Interesting how you've removed the rear inner arches and part of the seat support Stef. You planning to tub it for clearance purposes?

No the regs do not allow it, it would not take the power or stress anyway

No the regs do not allow it Not even with the vario converted to manual? I have no idea what class you're talking but, if it needs to be manual then vario with a continuous shift lever (push further forward for higher gears) could be entertaining Of course, that wouldn't get round the power issues...

Live axle and welded diff needed and a ford essex or cologne v6 engine with matching manual box. I need to stick to all these things if I am to race it.
I am using this shell as it was going to be scrapped anyway as it was shot and I like the looks of the Daf and think it will fit in well with the rest of the cars.
Have to say Joe like the idea of a munual CVT thats intresting.

Very nice, but I could have let you have Isabel's old front ones for a lot less. Special all-weather design as well - slick on t'outside grippy, on t'inside ;D

Chassis stripped ready for building Who would have thought a fibreglass car could rot so much drivers side front out rigger drivers side rear out rigger rear of chassis over tank pessenger side front out rigger and the power house complete with full stainless exhaust ;D plenty of welding to do, most of the very rotten bits would have to be cut off anyway so not as bad as it looks :doc:

It was British, Stef, of course it rusts Doesn't look that bad for one of these and (as you know) will look an awful lot better once the rusty bits are cut back. So when will we see it on track? ;D

Hope it will be on track for the last few rounds of the year but alot of work to do before that.
It is not as bad as it looks as most of the rusty bits would have been cut of anyway.

My old Renault 14 was 20mm longer on the driver's side (well, the wheelbase was) by design, Stef, so can't see 6mm mattering that much between friends ;D
I assume the tubing and sheet is for building one of them there rigid safety cell thingies for when things get rough on the track? Don't envy you having to bend tube of that sort of weight!

Hi Joe if it was longer on the pasenger side I would leave it but it is clockwise oval racing so right turn only so having a car biased to the left would be pants.
Yes tube is for one them there cage thingys for when I find out I am not as good a driver as I like to think I am.
I have a 10 ton bender so we will have to see how we go but it is very heavy weight tube.

As this car is being built for classic modifieds I thought you may like to see some of the cars I will be racing against, It is none contact by the way. Also a beetle, austin 1100, sunbeam alpine, standard vangard and a mk2 jag are being build. they are all built on shells like the capri, cars well past viable restoration web site is here if you want to have a look www.classicmodifieds.co.uk

Wow!! Like an affordable Legends series - superb stuff! And non-contact too, very pleased to hear. The Scim should be quite good, rwd and an Essex engine (of course!!!), should be a lot of fun!

Chassis has been redone and is now 2mm shorter on the drivers side so I am happy with that on a clock wise oval.
Wheels have been dropped of at the place that is doing the banding, should be able to collect them next week and get the tyres fitted.

Made some center outrigers and tack welded them in place then the welder died on me so that was all for today.
Anyone know what the welders from screw fix are like, worth getting or not
