Hiya Joe, I think Pete and Matt said something about shoehorning in a straight 6, but I'm not sure if they just meant fix the little engine destined to return in it's original place. Don't know if you might have time to do that, overhaul the brakes and fabricate a front silencer from scratch but thanks for that. So, there's the list, OR you could just go and have a great time. Wish I could have joined you lot. The car orientated break would have been a blessed relief at the moment.

Sorry, Ken, only had time to put the old engine back together as things turned out. It still needs clutch and bellhousing but other than that seems pretty complete I must admit I was a little disappointed that Matt dissuaded me from rigging fuel and a battery and firing it up on the "bench" - surely the two piles of tyres we were using would have acted as rubber mounts?

Yes, we did have to reign Joe in a little, otherwise he would have fixed the whole fleet at Essex Dafs! ;D ;D ;D

We hope to - it's a little far for spontaneous weekends but not too far to contemplate the odd working break

Hopefully some Daf action will take place on the 16th. There might be some time for me to tackle Snowdrops own bodywork if the Essex Chapter will allow it. All depends how long they chain me to the blue van for lol+++. I might also bring some interior valeting stuff. Must admit I am looking forward to doing something car orientated again. Roll on the 16th!

Sorry, the passion wagon.
It sounds very wrong to me to say chained to the passion wagon though.

Well, technically speaking her passion days are a distant notion until her crumpled body is repaired! ;D The valletting kit will very much come in handy Ken as I believe Matt now has the full vynal interior that you wanted for Snowdrop. In fact I think all you're missing is the front silencer from Dafdaffer.

Wow, that IS mega-impressive guys, actually a little too quick compared to my snail like progress on, well anything really. Yum, vinyl!
I was going to test the valeting stuff on the passion wagon trim to be honest. I love cleaning trim.
What an amazing bunch of folk that inhabit Essex Dafland.

Little update time I suppose. Not quite sure what those tea swilling Essex types have done since I last clapped eyes on Snowdrop but they had done wonderful things previously.
The lovely black vinyl interior has had a tentative wipe over and will look brilliant when I get round to fitting it. The dash has had an initial clean and I was very pleased with the results.
I still think that somehow streamlining the front end somehow is the way forward. I shall have a harder think about that one. I am hoping to get over to Essex in a couple of weeks, so I will update the thread then.
All the best.
Ken

Just take off front bumper and irons and mount the number plate on the front panel. Youd be amazed at the difference in looks

Progress? Oooooh, we like progress. Mustn't keep it to yourself though lol++++.
Just toying with the bumperless idea. I will think of alternatives for those plastic 44 badges though. Not very pretty. I love the style of the front indicators however, very streamlined.

Oh, that is a nice little car. Loving the colour combo with that red interior. Lovely.
Have no fear, Smowdrop will look nice whichever way it goes.

That is the only mk1 I have ever seen and I was lucky enough to go in it. There are lots of subtle differences between this and our type. The red interior is just sweet. Have more pics s276.photobucket.com/albums/kk4/daf44_photos/I did very nearly sell Gladys for this but in the end she looked at me with those big sorrowfull eyes and I just couldn't do it ;D

Thought the Triumph was Snowflake? Now I'm confused. Oh what the hell, they can be both called Snowdrop. Snowdrop the Triumph and Snowdrop the Daf. End of confusion (I think).

Next trip to Daf Central (Essex Chapter) will hopefully be on the 11th. Plan will be to focus on the PW steelwork, but if time allows I would like to try and swap the cloth seats for the vinyl one's. Worth a try.

Well Ken, there have been some further updates with Snowdrop last weekend which I'll post tonight if I have all the photos.
That is, if you want an update, as I gather you like receiving updates and an update would be nice... ;D
