Very Kool ! at least Anna moved ... my L`ILL Daf decided today that where she had been sitting for the last 5 years was where she wanted to stay ..and locked all 4 wheels solid...- maybeshe is related to Herbie....8=).... eventually 3 wheels gave up the fight and we dragged her onto the truck to go to her new home in the countryside ! ( My workshop...)

Good find John, well done that man! I'm sure we'll be seeing lots more of Anna once Klikker is finished.

I'm sure this will make a fantastic resto thread and I look forward to following this with great interest.
Well done for finding the car and having the oomph to restore her.
All the best.

And how amazing to get the doors, bonnet, bootlid and screen in the case too. Oh, I see!

That floor doesn't look too bad, John - no worse really than Isabel was last year before her MOT. In fact, Anna looks liuke she's got more inner sill left to attach the new floor to ;D
Will you be staying with red to match the old one or changing back to the original blue?

Daf really were ahead of their time, weren't they? Even people like Ferrari don't take weight saving that far ;D

Good point, Mac ;D
Do you know where it used to live? If it was one of America's really cold bits maybe it was a "bigger battery needed" mod to help through the winter? On a 6v car the extra capacity could be almost essential for long-term cold use!

Who can see something strange in this photo? I was going to say the lack of any serious rust holes, but I already know the answer. ;D

That's stunning, John! Looks like Anna is going to be seriously rot-free when you've finished (not that we'd expect anything less from you ) Mind you, it must be nice to have somewhere local that can make up floor pans for you - all any so-called body shops I can find round here will fit bought-in panels and that's about it. Guess real skills are still appreciated that side of the pond!

That really doesn't look bad, John! I've known spotty red 33s in far worse condition round that area ;D

;)should have little problem getting permission for access and I will salvage what I can... But I'm not joking when I said it was one owner the family moved to the U.S.A around 1973 and the Daf and a ford escort estate were just left and over the years pushed out of the way, but there is a few bits worth bringing! Do you know what model it is John ?? Is it a 31 32 or early 33?? I know from what's left in pic it's v difficult. I downloaded the app form and will get it to you asap. Donal

Do you have a death wish John!!
Never support a car on blocks. Movements such as hammering and cutting can cause the block to shatter. Please please for your own safety use axle stands

I think the pit is the safety measure Paul.
Besides, given current state of play with the floorboards if Anna was to fall off her blocks then the result would be a bewildered JdB surrounded by thin air with his head in the cabin. Much as I wouldn't want that to happen it would make an amusing photo! ;D

Ha Ha Ha...Safety issues are nonexistant with the blocks. I have more fear with jack stands. I have shaken the bejesus out of the body after placing the blocks....she did not move an inch. ;D ;D ;D @pete- Yes, that would be quite an amusing photo. LOL But no one would be around to take it. Have no fear I will prevail, unscathed. ;D John Seen (in person and in reports) enough stands going through bad metal / cars falling off them when someone pulls hard on a hub nut / lifts failing (despite failsafes) / people getting gassed in pits and so on to know there's no 100% safe way to be underneath 1/2 a ton of metal. Personally, if I'm spending any length of time under there I'd always rather have the wheels or hubs in contact with something solid because they give the widest and most stable base available!

Personally, unless it's something really major like removing a gearbox or axle I'm more than happy with the trusty trollyjack, plus a well placed leg can operate the jack handle and raise the car if needed, without having to come out from under the car. I've had to start using axle stands since meeting Matt as first time we worked on Gavina my lack of stands gave him the heebie-jeebies. I sill keep the trolly jack in place where possible, just for the extra support of course.

I have seen a few horror stories mainly down to body work of blocks shattering and dropping cars on people. They dont like repeated shocks. Mainly hammering, air guns, and impact drivers should be avoided on blocks. Railway sleepers are much much safer as they dont crumble under compressive loads
