beautiful stuff, I have to admit I just bought a new set of tyres for the 46, but have gone for 155/70/14's as these are run by a few with no apparent clearance issues..

Have you ordered those vredestein tyres yet? I would love to know where you get them from.

Hi Joe no I havnt ordered them yet, I heard a rumour that they were being produced again so I e-mailed the company to check, they are available tubeless
When the time comes I will check local tyre outlets and on line and compere with 155/70-14 prices and availability and make a final decision then

I bought continental 155/70-14's and the ride has been transformed, no issues with steering lock either.. best 140 quid I ever spent, (had to pay to get them fitted mind...) and they dont look stupidly wide.. ill get you a pic tomorrow in daylight if I remember (got memory of a goldfish these days) these were what I went with in the end, and also the company I used.. www.tyretraders.com/tyreInformation%7CItemID%7CCON15570R1477TPRM2.html

Hi Bob,just got round to reading about the 44,looks as though you are doing an excellent restoration.Yes I did know Bill Bradley although I was only in the experimental department of Perkins Engines for a couple of years when I was an apprentice.I left Perkins to work for Benstead and Pidcock, the Peterborough DAF Dealers.Where abouts in Cornwall do you live?we live a few miles into Devon, 10miles from Launceston. If I can help any time either drop me an e-mail or give me a ring, the old memory is still active regarding DAFs after many many years working on them. jatony.march@btopenworld.com Tony March starider.

PS,I fitted 145x14 to my 44 which were readily available and not much different in size to the original 135x14 and even those give an improved ride. starider.

Hi Tony I live in a small village named St Day (hence Daydoodler) which is about 6 miles from Truro so you are about 60 miles from me
I am often up and down the A30 so perhaps we could arrange a meet sometime??
with tyres, I picked up a couple of 145/14 tyres ( Morris 1000 size ) which I fitted on spare rims to see what they looked like
But I do like the look of the 155/70-14s But time yet to make a final choice

Hi, Sorry I haven't replied before, only just had a look on your posts.I assume you lived in Peterborough, where abouts?I lived in Newark Avenue at the time of my apprenticeship. The work you are doing on your 44 looks amazing.I am re-building a Morris Minor Van at the moment, not spending as much time and attention to detail as yourself as we intend to use it a lot when finished. When the weather improves we ought to meet up.[Tony] starider

Hi all my computer crashed some weeks ago, my son came down and sorted it out for me, my computer skills are about one out of ten on a good day
tried to put a photo on but no joy
Any way Dolly is coming on nicely, have been painting while the weather has been fine, I am using coach paint, thought I would have a go after seeing it in
Practical Classics a couple of months ago, far cheaper than a professional respray but time consuming, but its a labour of love
If anyone is interested I got an exact paint match from Avenue Coatings. 3 David rd Colnbrook Slough SL3 0TW 01753 686888
I sent a piece of metal in a jiffy bag and they colour matched it in Tekaloid. They gave me a code and if I need another mix its on file
Am currently rebuilding the engine. Will try to learn about photos

I've been thinking about the coach painting option for my 66 as well, probably since reading that same Practical Classics article! I'll look forward to seeing how yours works out.

it has taken about five weeks so far, it is obviously all being done outside but the under bonnet is finished and the drivers door is being done inside when weather bad. Engine is going back in this week so will fit bonnet and finally get rid on the tarpaulin. I have to get it painted and back on its wheels by the end September before the weather changes for the worst Many thanks to Richard for sorting out my dreadful photo loading
