Daf Hobby in Sittard www.dafhobby.nl/index.php have an open day planned for Sunday 3rd May 2015. I will be attending as part of a planned week touring the Netherlands with the V66 and an old school friend. Anybody else planning on going? If any club members would like me to bring any SMALL parts home with me then I may be able to help, there are normally special prices on these open days apparently.

I've been thinking about this, taking a few days out to go back to Holland. I didn't manage to visit last year for the first time in 10 years! Or I could drive back to Europoort on Sunday night and get off the ferry and drive from Hull straight to work. Which is an idea! Does anyone else fancy it?

Are you booked then Joe? Anyone else up for it? I'll be sailing on the11pm Stena line crossing Friday the 1st from Harwich to the hook of Holland, planning a proper night in the bar, arriving in Holland at 8.00am. A night in Amsterdam then down to Sittard for the Daf hobby day on the Sunday.

There is a big Citroen show on that weekend (Citromobile) located just near Amsterdam, how far is DAF Hobby from Amsterdam as thinking about doing both events in one weekend if they are not too far apart.

I've not booked anything yet. Still working out if I'm going or can really afford it. I forgot Monday the 4th is a Bank Holiday anyway!

I think this is ON. Probably going to do the Harwich - Hoek Van Holland ferry rather than spending two nights in the middle of the North Sea.

Indeed. You could pop in and see us on the way through if you like Alex as we are only 20 minutes by car to Harwich.

BOOKED!!! The plan provisionally is one night on the ferry, then to drive day Saturday morning to Eindhoven for a pilgrimage to the Daf Museum followed by plenty of Dommelsch. Sunday morning trundle to Sittard for the Daf Hobby day, then in the afternoon/evening make our way back up to Delft for the night. With the ferry back leaving at 2pm on Bank Holiday Monday. I'm definitely taking out AA European cover that is for certain!

Anymore for this? Definitely stopping in Delft on the way back as I've booked a hotel. Not booked a hotel for Eindhoven yet but there are plenty of options.

Sadly not this time as it is an especially busy and intense time for me here.
However, I can tell you that Delft is a lovely town. I've been a few times over the years both with and without the DAF. The main square features the big old church and we once had a load of DAFs parked there for an event. On the corner of the square (sort of "7 o'clock" position if you imagine the old church to be 12 o'clock, was a nice cafe/bar that again brings back memories. I've forgotten what it's called.
Also, just off the square down a side road to the left is a wonderful tobacconists - not that I am advocating smoking! It is very "olde Dutch" and part of the tourist trail, so you don't have to buy anything if you don't want to. That said, Companen (not sure if that spelling is correct) cigars are, well, a speciality.
Oh, and there is a lot of pottery of course!

The Pound/Euro rate is very good at the moment, making lots of stuff I want from Dafhobby much cheaper (even before discounts on the day) Wish I could go :-( Although if I did, I would come back with all my wish list.
Alloys Strut brace sport steering wheel 4 branch exhaust manifold electronic ignition
All now cheaper than buying in the UK

I'd love to bring some stuff back for you, but it would have to be small as I intend on filling the boot with a few of these..... Eindhoven's second greatest export.

Just one week to go, and I'm ready. Will we make it to Harwich let alone Holland? Time will tell....

Goldie should be fine, perhaps the odd "Are we there yet?" to be expected, but you have a new belt, new points etc. so the usual culprits are covered. Hope you have a good time.
