A bit of a long shot, but I wondered if anyone knows the maximum towing weights for a Daf 33, both for braked and unbaked trailers. Coupled with this, what's the maximum loading permitted on each axle? Did Daf ever manufacture a tow hitch for a 33?
This IS leading somewhere, I assure you.....

For the 33, kerb weight is 670kg with a maximum in-car load of 320kg and a maximum trailer weight of 420kg. That gives a maximum train weight of about 1400kg. According to the handbook (obviously when everything was new), the maximum hill-climbing at that weight is 10%, or a 1:10 hill. At a more "reasonable" weight of the car + 450kg trailer it can cope with about a 1:4 hill.

I've been looking into this more & have come across these: www.Go-Pods.co.uk which sell some pretty cool caravans! These caravans have a MiRO (?) of 480 Kg, which is significantly UNDER the towing limit of a Daf 33, but the other measurement is a MTPLM of 750 Kg. I have to say I'm confused but am requesting a brochure anyway! More later.....

Wow - that really does look cool.
I'm not known as a caravan person, but I can see the attraction of these!

Not much use I know, but when I worked for Benstead and Pidcock we once towed in a tipper lorry with our 33 Pick-up with no problem at all!! These caravans should pose no problem at all.I may be wrong but doesn't the hand book give the spec. or the ID plate under the bonnet? starider

This one could be towed by a 33: It is a belgian made Wa-Wa 180 of the 60s. empty weight 300 kg, streamlined and a hinged roof that moves down when traveling, to a height of about 180cm. When in camping mode you have just as much headroom as in a conventional caravan. Sold it back to belgium last month because i made a smaller 1 person version along the same principles:

Waow, a Citroën Axel ! These cars were built by Oltcit in Romania and are very rare now (at least in France). I heard praises about the instrument panel and controls which were better than those of the Citroën Visa.

yes sir, indeed. Also the ride comfort, the boot entrance and size, the visibility to the rear and a lot more is far superior to the Visa (which is in fact a peug 104). Oltcit/Axel is the last genuine Citroen design (ready in 1974 but stopped) before PSA forced them to use standard parts. Only problem is the shockingly bad build quality and (local) parts quality. just keep changing them for original French parts and after some time the problems will be over. it is fun to drive so much more sporty than a Visa. Here's my website:
there are 7 left running in NL, in F there should be more. in the former eastblock they start to reappreciate them now (yougtimers).
