Finally after about 18 mths I’ve tentatively started some work on my 44. Pulled front brakes apart and unseized the cylinders. Managed to start her up and drive out of garage and turn it around. Now I can sort back brakes and gunged up fuel tank. Keeping fingers crossed that gears all work but car has not been on the road since 1993. What are my chances? Attachment Deleted

Dafs are incredibly tough cars and mechanically they can easily be revived. If the bodywork's in good order too then you're laughing! Change all the fluids, the belts and tyres and you ought to be up and away! looking forward to the next episode......

Hi, Lots to check out, belts can be replaced but the surfaces of the transmission discs must be in good condition otherwise corroded surfaces will wear belts quickly. Most other work that may be required is standard"do-able".There is always plenty of help and advice from these pages as you may know, just ask!!........starider

I've just returned a 44 to the road that was parked up in 1976, unsiezed the brakes and wheel cylinders (even the rubbers were still good). she's had new belts and changed all the brake pipes and fuel pipes.. so far 120 miles with no problems
