Not one, but two articles on Dafs in the latest Classics Monthly magazine. One on the variomatic transmission and another on the history of Daf cars. Both written by Iain Wakefield with photos credited to the DOC.

I was wondering when this was going to appear.
The editor contacted me a month or two ago asking if I could help with photos and also to check his proposed articles for any obvious errors. (I had to get my virtual red pen out!)
Credit where it's due, at least this magazine has recognised the 60th anniversary of the DAF Variomatic. The other well known classic car mags seem to be completely ignoring us and DAFs nowadays - and we keep in touch with them by sending them (at building expense) copies of our club magazine.
It's not a magazine that I know that well, but will search around for it.
Thanks for letting us know it's out.

It is good to see. Classics Monthly is actually my favourite of the mainstream classic car magazines - to the point where I have a subscription for it. They're much less pretentious than many other "classic" venues.

I've bought a copy and agree; its a better read than my usual "Practical Classics", although I ought to be careful, as a good friend works on it! The Daf article is great!

Well I'm still struggling to get a copy. Tried four different shops today.
Will try others tomorrow hopefully.

Well I'm still struggling to get a copy. Tried four different shops today. Will try others tomorrow hopefully. Usually WH Smith have it, at least in the larger shops. If you can't find a copy I'll happily pick one up and send it on to you.

Good news. I managed to get a copy today from a local newsagent.
Pleased to see they used some of my/our pics - including one of my dear old mimosa yellow 55. That was my first DAF - and car. Sadly no longer with us.
I must make it clear that they only asked me to look at the words for the DAF story. They didn't show their plan for the Variomatic feature - although I supplied the photos. Where they got the idea that "Volvo used planetary automatic gearboxes for later 340s from", I have no idea! Also, it is continuously variable, not constantly variable - although I appreciate that it means the same thing.
Still, it's good to see some DAF coverage again at last.
Hopefully when the other magazines see it, it might prod them into catching up.
