I went to pick it up Wednesday, I was a bit nervous about driving an unfamiliar car through London, let alone one with a funny transmission, but my fear was short lived as it was actually good fun! most of the A2 back to Gillingham Kent is a 50mph limit and it trundled along quite nicely, even overtaking a Citroen at one point, by the time I'd got home I had a nice smile on my face. I love the satisfying clunk-ish noise the indicators make and the fact I can use either side at the petrol station!
I've no plans to do much to it, a radio might be a nice addition as long as it's in keeping with the age of the car, and I'll try to keep on top of any rust, but I think the knocks, and wear and tear to the exterior paintwork add to its charm and it certainly wont be resprayed.
I've not any pictures of my own just yet, there's a thread on here detailing all the work the previous owner put into it which has some photos, but I'll be out and about over the weekend and will grab a few.
I go to as many car shows as I can in the summer months, and used to enter my other car, a 1990 Renault 5, but now I shall be taking the DAF instead, the first being on the August bank holiday in Faversham.
I do have a question, if I may, and that is what are the recommended tyre pressures? It has 145 14 tyres fitted at the moment, although it did come with a set of vredestein classic 135 14 70 ( I think) tyres.
Thanks.

Dear Gez,
Welcome to the Forum! I know the car as I helped the previous owner carry out a few jobs on the car. As for help, joining the Daf Owners Club would be your best move, as there's an excellent magazine, packed with loads of helpful articles and technical stuff, which will help you with the car.
I don't know the tyre pressures for your car, but buying a copy of the "Autobooks" Daf 55/66 book would be a wise investment, with answers to loads of questions! They're usually available on E-Bay (other internet shopping sites ate available.)

Gez, I was also very interested in buying that car but you beat me to it! It is a lovely example and it gone to an appreciative new owner. Keep us posted on what you are doing with the car.

Hi again,
It came with an Autobooks manual and a Haynes manual too! the tyre pressure was in the Haynes.
I'm still getting used to driving it, so I'm using it to go to work for the time being.
There are a couple of tiny bits I need to do, fit the chrome rings to the headlights, only one of the windscreen washer jets works and the horn doesn't seem to work, but like I say tiny jobs.
I'll try and keep you posted on anything I get up to with my DAF!
I think I'll join the owners club as soon as I can find my cheque book.
