Well not quite brand new but after a few days with Graham in Peterborough, my 66 drives as close as is possible to a new car. It all started when I noticed an oil leak on the secondary, it had had a slight intermittent vibration also and I always felt it revved a bit high initially on pulling away. Steve helped me find a good replacement unit as it is easier to swap it than rebuild it. I intended to do this over the winter at leisure. However, a shoulder injury put that on hold and I remembered meeting Graham at Princethorpe and being impressed with his credentials. A quick message on S/M and he was on board to do the job. Now Peterborough is not two mins. from me so I thought it worthwhile to get other bits done whilst the car is in the hands of a professional. Once the transmission had been swapped, Graham replaced front shock absorbers. He then replaced the clutch, and whilst having access he did both front and rear engine oil seals (no more drips). The thing about Graham is, as he works he is checking everything else, so some crucial little nuts got tightened and my DAF got a full health check. I went to collect it today and as soon as I pulled away from his place heading home, it was like a different car, smooth, quiet very stable and direct through the bends and the engine just hummed away effortlessly. I may have missed out on some tinkering but I have a better, safer, more enjoyable car than before. DAF ownership just gets better and better.

Well it looks absolutely stunning. Very tasteful changes.
I can imagine the improvement that the new shock absorbers make. After all, the old ones must be over 40 years old and bound to be getting tired.
I have to admit as well that despite my "thing" for originality, I do like those wheels!

That's a very nice example you have there. Graham was recommended to me recently but unfortunately I haven't had a chance to get in touch. Mind you my Volvo 340GL variomatic is running pretty well just now, seems all it needed was a bit of use, having a mere 23k miles on it since new I might still have something for Graham to get his teeth into though, it's another Volvo but much closer to the bloodline as it were....a 66GL screaming save me save me. It's in a similar colour to this one of yours and I found it rather by accident on the dreaded auction site. I'll let everyone know if it comes to live with me, I'm into shuffling things around so we can save another of this fine breed.

I think Graham is on here as DAFman50 - so it might be worth sending a private message.
