It's tomorrow (Sunday 28th April)
Is anyone planning to take their DAF out?
Probably too late to get together but if anyone would like to take a pic etc and share it with us - I would also love to run a few in the next magazine in June.
Thanks.

Yes, we'll be off to Ely, in Cambridgeshire, to see the Cathedral and explore the town. Going there by Daf, of course!

Took Dolly for her M O T on Wednesday. passed no problems but on the way home going up the last hill she suddenly lost all drive and there was a cloud of blue rubber smelling smoke and we came to a halt. I haven't checked yet but I think the prop shaft coupling has given way. Anyway, she had a nice ride home on the back of a recovery truck. Another little job to slide the engine forward next week The joys of Daffing

If 44s and 33s use the same prop-shaft I can help......... I don't know if they do, though!

I made a bit of time to get the 33 out today. Unfortunately I just didn't get a chance to get the 44 this time. Here it is, with some junior Victor Meldrew!

You are not the first to notice the similarity! And no, I am not the least bit offended - I always have been rather like the dear man.

It's not a DAF only event, it is a national "drive your old vehicle" incentive sort of thing. A spring awakening really for hibernating classics. I don't know who thought it up or how it came about ( might have been the Federation of Historic Vehicles? ) but it raises awareness if nothing else.

Thanks for the offer of the prop shaft I know different models have different lengths so will have to get it out and measure it.

It gets lots of coverage in the various classic car magazines and press, and has been an annual "Day" for several years, organised primarily by the FHBVC. If you do a quick internet search, you'll find lots of info, such as this - www.awarenessdays.com/awareness-days-calendar/drive-it-day-2019/We also look ahead and review in our magazine - well, we do if people report things!
