Well it's new to me anyway and maybe to some of you. Couple of days ago I listed a pickup that we have finished. Rather nice if I say so myself Within moments I've got two very keen buyers! Far and away the keenest was one Mary James, a lady (?) so important that she just had no time to even contact her own shipping agent. However the asking price was agreed and a transfer imminent. Nice one. Next though could I do her a favour? In her important life she was just too busy to pay her 'shipping agent' so if she overpaid the transfer by £500 could I pay 480 of it to her 'agent'? No difficulty in that once when cleared funds were in my Bank I said. (do we begin to see where this is going?) Next thing I get details of this 'agent'. Joseph Iveren. Oke Ado Ibadan, Nigeria. Next a mail from Payonline@payment.com to inform me that they are holding £10,000 transfered from a Mary James. All I need to do is to transfer £480 to Mr. Iveren and the whole amount will be instantly transfer to my account. (now we can see where this is going). Now you would think that nobody would fall for a stupid scam like this but the fact that these people find it worth spending their time on might suggest that this is not true. Just so you know. David

Not new to me, I'm sorry to say. I offered a Lada for £2,500 a few years ago and was asked to do more or less the same. Call it my natural cynicism, coupled with too many years working for a Government department with many employees at airports.... and a year living in Lagos, working for the same department, but anything involving that "well-known west African state" makes me run a mile!
Glad you didn't fall for it! It IS sometimes good fun stringing them along a bit though......
