Have just purchased what will possibly be my last new car.The Vitara suspension collapsed and I realised that after 55 odd years I had had enough of repairing cars[plus getting down to work on them was getting a problem, although getting up is even worse].I still have the Moggie Van to finish, but that's another story. We had a look at what was on offer and subsequently decided on the Mk 2 Dacia Duster[mid range model].It seems excellent with quite old technology, you lift the bonnet and everything is visable[labelled Renault of course],good build quality and most of the usual extras. We went for petrol this time as I feel the government will begin to put pressure on diesel owners by increased road tax/fuel costs[The Vitara tax went up 25 quid this year].Slowly getting to grips with the turbo charged 1300 and 6 gears.Time will tell!! Still looking for a 33 van though!!..................starider

Hi, The Duster has just completed 3,000 miles and I am happy to report that we are both delighted with it's comfort, drive ability,it's looks and at an average of just over 45mpg[mostly shortish journeys country lanes and hills!,up to over 50mpg on "A" roads and motorways]. Any sign of a 33 Van,please! before I get even older!!...............starider

Since my last report on the Duster, we have moved on,we bought a camper for times away,it is another automatic a Toyota Alphard [Japanese Import] excellent vehicle and tows well. Now we are more into automatics[old age] we decided last year to trade in the Duster for the latest model Duster Automatic, what a lovely car, surprising acceleration, very DAF like; all at a sensible price with all the "whistles and flutes". Recommended.

Doesn't time fly? Took the Duster in for service and first MOT last July, whilst waiting for the work to be done we wandered into the showroom and was looking around the new 2022 Duster[as it transpired an Auto],we got into conversation with the salesman who offered a good deal on our Duster which we took. The new car is an excellent model with plenty of extras and a very smooth auto transmission with tremendous acceleration,we now have 4 automatics, the DAF Van,the DAF Pick-up,the Dacia Duster and the Toyota Alphard Camper.Driving is so much easier especially in traffic queues and road works!
