I've never seen the original colour except in photos so my opinion is limited use here but judging by the piece round the heater (I assume that's original?) it certainly looks like a decent match - especially as you're obviously doing the whole car. Guess there's a little bit of swings & roundabouts here - spot-on clolour (assuming you have some genuine, un-faded, original and that they match it right) or a "correct" finish. I must admit I'm not a great fan of 2-pack on old cars - it always looks a little "plastic" to me - so would probably go with the home-mix if it was mine. Just remember to mix extra cos what's the chance of matcing it again?

Go for it John, it looks pretty matching to me. I remember 66's driving around in that colour in Holland.

Agree with Max on this one, John. The second (in the photo anyway) is a little reminiscent of the IRR green I used to have to paint on landies after it had faded for a while. The first is very 70s, if a little lighter than shown in their leaflet www.dafmobile.ournet.org.uk/leaflet1.html (I assume that's the colour you're basing it on)

Have you repainted all the first colour? Any chance of a shot showing both?

A "just out of the factory" job. I bet you will be proud driving that.

That is a seriously good idea, John! Could be just what Betty will need when her silencer gets past the patchable stage . Will be interesting to see how it all fits and works once you finish. Meanwhile, you have a help-begging PM about a small project I'm looking at

hi.
nice job on the car john. looks great.
joe. an easier option over here for the rear section is to modify a single box Mini exhaust. the diameter is close enough to weld (with help from a BIG hammer) and the silencer is small enough to fit. Mini exhausts are still fairly cheap and easy to get as well. i fitted one on my 44. VERY easy, and sounds nice.

Well done - hang on in there! Your photo and explanation of the door frame is interesting - it sort of looks like one of those exploded workshop manual drawings!

It certainly will, John. Betty's sprung a leak from hers in the past few weeks and was dreading the hunt for a replacement

Ecellent job on the Carb & fuel pump John. Only problem I have had with the AC pump was the outlet pipe to the carb, it started leaking, but rectify it by refitting it with Aerodite, no trouble since.
Bob.

Ohh, probably my least favourite job on any car (apart from taking a screen out that is). Never broken one yet but always expect the next one to be the first - not good if it's a hard to source one! Nice to see that the re-made rubbers are a good fit, unlike some of the Triumph ones floating around at the moment

Well, at least that is all progress in the right direction John. I wish I had a little Puerto Rican friend like yours John, I'd set him straight to work on my R5GTT with it's RAF paintwork! ;D

That's looking good, John! The only trouble is, every time I come near one of your threads (or a few others on here) I start suffering irrational jealousy against people who can leave their cars in bits at the end of the day rather than having to make sure it's all reassembled for the night. It's not fair, I tell you! ;D Jealousy aside, I'm definately looking forward to seeing that 30 once it's all back together and painted

I'm very jealous John, with the amount of work you're putting in that paintwork should come out great. Six years is not too long if you've enjoyed the work, if they were all finished you'd only find another one to start! ;D ;D
I look forward to seeing some seriously shiny new paint.

hi john.
when i bought a new (old stock) set of points (still sealed in the plastic box)for my 44 i could not get a spark at all. after a lot of extremely colourful language and checking every wire on the system i found that the problem was the points themselves. the light oil that they are coated in to stop corrosion had set like varnish over 40 years or so and was insulating the points.
lots of scraping later and they worked fine.
worth checking.

Excellent work there John. Makes me think the Green Machine could do with a new coat of paint after 43 years.
