Ahh but donuts are known for doing that (especially when oil contaminated), reduction gears aren't

Yeah, tasty bit of engineering aren't they? ;D
I was looking at a site a couple ofdays ago that does inner CV conversions for one of the Lotus models that use 4 of them (Elan maybe??). Seems like a good plan if something can be worked out.....

That's sad Paul. For my own part, I've not commented too much here as I don't know that much about Tri umphs but not to say I don't like them. Personally I've enjoyed reading this thread, as I do like other brands of cars, not just Dafs. I've stopped updating my Rover thread, just as I did with Gavina and Passionwagon's threads when I started the Essex Dafs one, also because I felt that lumping all the cars into one thread there should always be something to read. Rover is my daily hack and because there's often not much to report I include her under Essex Dafs. If anyone is upset by that I would hope to be told first.

I don't think anyone is upset or "pee'd off" as such.
It's just that like a book about a particular subject, or the classified section of a newspaper, if people are looking for information about a topic/product, they will go to where they expect to read about it.
Not many of you know that I also have a thing about 60s and 70s models of another non-DAF, and I therefore get info on those from dedicated websites/mags etc, rather like we do DAFs.
I hope you're not upset or "pee'd off" (technical term?) Keep the Gladys updates coming!

Personally, having spent the past several years studying how all this internetty stuff works as part of my degree, my feeling is that having something like the "Other Makes" board, which is related but not topic-specific, serves an invaluable purpose for any forum. Search engines (especially Google) take a fair bit of notice of how often sites update and ones that are "busy" will always climb higher in the rankings than ones that aren't. They also no longer rely on meta-tags for classifying sites so varied content makes it far more likely that a site will feature in search results than something where the content is narrower, and needs more specific search terms to find it. Google is smart enough, incidentally, to realise that Dafs, triu mphs and Rover SDs are all cars of a classic persuasion so will see them as "related" topics and, therefore, suitable for cataloguing. As an example of that, my site (amazingly) now comes in first place in Google UK searches for "Daf drive belt", even above the Wikipedia entries for Daf (and yes, I do link back here ) If I analyse my site hits, most of them come from Google searches for either Triumph stuff or central locking - because of the page I put up about fitting it. But, when Google sends someone to one of those pages, it also checks the rest of the site which helps bump the site up the listings. So, the more related subjects Google can find on a site, and the more actively updated it is, the more likely people are to find it "by accident" - which is where new enthusiasts often come from!
