Has anyone converted their DAF 33 to 12 volt electrics?
Is it possible ?
Is it worth the effort?
Cheers.
Pete.

Personally no.
Yes, it is possible but I doubt whether it is worth the effort, although I guess it is easier to get hold of 12v bulbs etc!!

Having converted my previous 33 Van & a few 33/44 saloon's to 12 VOLTS > Resulting in Better Starting#Lighting#windscreen wiper wash. Only fuel tank light on van was left out as no fuel guage at dash#12 volts bits easily got. Call me for more info. Cheers. Eric

L.O. All.
Thanks for all the advice.
Due to a complicated sequence of events I have decided to upgrade to 12 volts.
Anyone got a suitable 12 volt wiper motor please?
Thanks,
Pete.

L.O.
It's me again.
Do I need to change the condenser on the distributor?
I shall be putting a 12 volt coil on.
Thanks,
Pete.

HI, i wouldnt have thought so as i used to use a ford transit condenser on my daf 44 which was a six volt, and as you know transits are 12v, all i used to do was change the connecter at the end for a spade connector and it was fine, the original one that was listed was over £10 and it never fit!

Hi Paul. Thanks for that info. Thing is that in your case you were giving a 12 volt condenser 6 volts. In my case I would be just the opposite, giving the 6 volt condenser 12volts.
I reckon It might work ok but would 12 volts on a 6v condenser be likely to cause premature failure after months of use?
It might be an idea to get a transit 12v condenser!
Any more ideas anyone?
Cheers.
Pete.

Hi Pete You need to make sure on the 6 volt system that all electical connections are clean and tight more so the charging side. It some time help if you put an extra earthing cable from the battery earth to the starter motor fixing bolt. ( The slights resistance in any connection on the 6 volt system will effect the performance of the system greatly compared to the 12 volt type). Do you need a 6 volt item? I may be able to help.
Regards Bob.

Hello Bob.
Thanks for that information.
I'm now actually in the process of converting from 6v to 12v so I don't need any 6 volt bits.
What I need is a 12v Wiper Motor.
Cheers,
Pete.
