Hopefully should have it done and back for a retest this afternoon. Advisorie Execisive oil leak that will be repaired soon. Ive fitted new mirrors but am somewhat annoyed as they where only cracked cause he clouted them on the ramp as drove in. The side lamps chose to pack up on the way to the test center. Missed that bit of rust but it should be a 30min patch looking at it. Oh well.

Sorry to hear that Paul Should be a quick fix though. I think I would let him MOT it and then when they ask for payment present them the bill for the replacement mirror that they cracked. ;D

Sorry to hear that, Paul, but I suggest you find a new tester next time.
There is NO SUCH THING as an obligatory o/s mirror on that car. As long as you have an interior rear-view or one wing mirror (either side) that's all you need. Clearly the tester is not classics aware!

What are the rules on Mirrors? My old car passed it's MOT with no rear view mirror and that was a modern car.

Vehicles first used before 1st August 1978 must have either:
a. an exterior mirror fitted to the offside (right-hand side when seated in the driver’s seat), or
b. an exterior mirror fitted to the nearside (left hand side when seated in the driver’s seat), or
c. an interior mirror.
Vehicles first used on or after 1st August 1978 must have two of the above, one of which must be option a (an o/s wing or door mirror) so if you had both wing / door mirrors you don't need the interior.

Is your speedo not working or are you just less than 1/2 mile from the test station??? And why did you attach a chassis plate between the two tests? ;D

He didn't look at the speedo second time around. It does read speed but doesn't count miles. As for the chassis No I remembered to bring the old cert with me and the system didn't want to play ball for a quick retest so everything had to be reentered anyway.

Nope, it woudn't allow a quick test cos there were brake measurements involved so the system isists it gets logged properly again.

Just checked the odo now reading 21944 so It must have been working when retested naughty tester didn't look at the mileage on the retest nor did he actually check the handbrake effiency or look under the car. I needn't really have bothered fixing them as to me they where adeqoute the handbrake held on hills and the sill was a hairline crack in an otherwise brand new sill.

good effort well done. from earlier pictures posted i thought that it would have taken more than that Ive worked out its taken 22 hours of work to make this car roadworthy and I think id do it again. Once ive got some paint and some new arches on the car will be oweing me in the region of £400 plus the purchase cost which was £200. Not bad at all really. Do you mean from photos of rust or photos of repairs being carried out. Luckily the rot in the car although severe was fairly contained too small areas of the car making for easier repairs. Now I need my speedo cable and all is well. Paul
