Hello at all ! A friend from V3M helped me to get a rhd Daf 66. With the first one we had no luck - a horrible rusty Volvo 66 Estate. But now i have a really great DAF 66 SL in very nice conditon. Does anybody know how much rhd Daf´s were built ? Were they built on the same production line as the "normal" Daf´s ? Many greeting from germany, Benny

Thanks a lot ! I just asked at the museum, if i get an answer, i´ll tell you. The mirror at my car is interessting, its mounted at the bonnet. Is it right that the Daf´s had no mirrors at the doors as standart in UK ? Now i´m searching for a twin of my mirror - for the other side of the bonnet I´ll make a picture of it and post it, maybe someone has an idea how to get a second mirror like this. salü, Benny

Hm, a few years ago i repaired the RHD DAF 44 of a friend. This car also had none mirrors at the outside, only the one in the car. So i think there were original no mirrors at DAF´s in UK. Maybe it was an option .. ? However, i´ll post pictures of my mirror tomorrow. salü, Benny

Hi,
My 1972 55 saloon, that I owned back in the early-eighties, had no external mirrors. In the uk market at that time external mirrors where options and more normally fitted to the front wing rather than the door. There were a lot of accessories around at the time, so that might be whats fitted. I will check my brochures later to see if the list mirrors as standard.

Yep, my own collection of DAF's vary enormously - both 1966 32's have NO mirrors at all. My 1970 33 has none, my 1972 33 has one. My 1973 66 estate has two, the other has one - the Coupe has two on the bonnet.
I think I need a lie down......

For Benny:
The mirrors you have are exactly the ones fitted to my old Viva HB (I broke this and kept them - if you need one/two I will do my best to fish them out!). They are also the ones I have fitted to the FB Victor I still have - it's been in our family for years and so may be the ones originally fitted to it.
For Paul:
Ditto - I am certain I have spare Spitfire mirrors - I am certain I found some whilst looking for other matching mirrors for my own Coupe.
I'll see what I can find for you two tomorrow - my workshop has no lights at the moment so it will have to be a daytime search only!
Best wishes to you both!
Howard

Benny: If I find them you are welcome to them - I'm sure I bought some new stems years ago too......
Paul: Yes, I'm the guilty party who managed to get the Gloucester Coupe! I was absolutely amazed because I am by tradition NEVER first in the queue so I was pleasantly shocked to be as I have been after a Coupe for literally ages. This winter I am making a concerted effort to actually finish some DAF's - I promise that the Coupe will be on the road and fine and dandy for the spring. I've raided my spares collection and put on better bumpers and changed a lot of items to make it as good as I possibly can. I am having a day off to shop (and of course visit the workshop) so I will let you know what mirrors I find for you. I know I have a few spare, I am absolutely sure. What do I want for them? Just the cost of postage - people here have been more than kind to me so I don't see why I shouldn't return the favour.
My ultimate plan is to invade a car show without warning when all the DAF's are done (or certainly five or so of them!) - let's face it, I've NEVER seen one at a show around these here parts, so it could be a shock to the MGB and Morris Minor brigade (says he who has an MGB and Minor in his workshop too!). Hopefully it will provoke a lot of interest amongst those who don't know what they are and the old "rubber bands" brigade!
