Hi Rich,
I'm confused. Not for the first time, I know. But I'm doing me nut here trying to work out how I managed to get the radiator out of a 66 I had for spares. Maybe because I didn't look at a Haynes manual! I shall have a good think about how I might have achieved this, 'cos it found it's way out somehow!
Even weirder.
I'll study my own 66 in daylight and see if I can fag out how I achieved this feat that Houdini would have been proud of!

Hi Howard,
I've come back to visit you! I've swapped loads of rads in 66's, Daf and Volvo, and although they need a bit of jiggling it is quite easy to do. Keep practising Richard!
Regards,
Martin.

Hi Martin and Richard! I too checked my Haynes manual, which seems rather reluctant to discuss the topic - I am presuming though that they are talking about the cowl being 'impossible to remove, as it is welded to the radiator'. I'm far from a mechanical genius and I lack confidence in a lot of tasks, but I know I've taken radiators out of a 66 and not overtaxed myself, mentally or physically. As for putting them back in though.....

Hi all, as i can remember you can get it out by, undo-ing the bolt at the bottom of the rad and the clamps on top then i am sure that you can then pull out the rad by pushing the fan blades back a little and wiggling it out, other than that move the rad forwards a little and undo the 10mm bolts on front of the fan i use a 10mm halfords ratchet spanner (which is also good for taking the bonnet off single handed) it is tight whichever way you go. it would be a lot easier if the cowl came off what were they thinking? Be amazed, I'm going to give a technical tip. Well, sort of. When you put it all back together again, do away with the cowl... We (well Steve) did this years ago, when I had to have a new rad in my 55. I seem to recall that we also installed a "quick" release bracket at the top, which meant that the next time the rad had to come out, it was a case of un-clipping and lifting it. I assume that a 66 would be similar. I'm off now to find a dark corner, after the shock of getting teccy.
