Yes, I'm starting to get a bit confused too - but nothing new in that!
There are of course, 2 Richards, but at least one has a 66 and the other my 33.
So Paul - have you got something to tell us then re 44?...

sadly Mr B not yet i should be picking up gladys next week if all goes well, i have had to wait due to the 66 not selling first time.
should be fun though as i intend to drive it home when all it has ever done is drive around town all its life. (it drove from london once!) i think that the belts are the original ones so i suspect bit of a bang on the way home
Paul
Ps; other Paul, hope that you got the belt problem sorted. good to hear that you are keeping that mk1 up to scratch

Fingers crossed matey.
By the way, I'm hoping to get to work on the next magazine soon, with an aim to get it out late March.
If you have any pics/snippets you'd like to include, let me know!
Good luck with Gladys!

Hehe, I have always owned Pugs, starting with a 104, 205, 309 diesel. Then for a few years a Volvo 340 1.4 and a GLT 2.0. Back to Pugs now and the other half has a 106 diesel. I swear by diesels for everyday use. I took the engine out the 33 yesterday, I didn't know that the propshaft runs in it's own private tunnel. Thought It would be a rust trap, but it looks pretty good in there. The clutch shoes are well and truly knackered. 5 of the eight have lost their friction material. No wonder it did not want to disengage. The exhaust manifold are well and truly stuck to the head, any ideas or suggestions what is the safest way to get them off? I have tried a rubber hammer but it doesn't want to know.

try a bit of heat, like a small blow torch used for plumbing, i use one of these and a knocking stick and that usally works on joints, so may be ok on the head as long as you dont over do it, it probably has had a sealing compound on at some time

Alex had the same problem with my 33, use a paint stripping blade or some metal plate to knock out the old gasket, then give it some penatrating oil, leave over night and then try a bit of heat and the knocking stick. That done it for me.
Regards Bob.

Thanks Bob, I will try that. I will remove the studs first, should make it easier.
