Morning all, this morning I decided to attend to one of the things on the car that had been bugging me for a while, "Gina" snapped her throttle cable about 6 months ago so being miles from home I merely chopped the outer cabling back and re attatched it and drove on, forgot all about it till about 2 months ago she did it again, yet again another trim of the outer cable got me mobile but by now the inner cable was fraying badly, and it was a miracle that the inner cable even went in and out of the outer like it did, but as usual the daf kept going. I looked into buying a genuine throttle cable but then it dawned on me that it had captive ends both ends of the outer cable (one on bulkhead and one on carburettor). I went to my local bike shop and bought a mountain bike universal fit front brake cable (the one with a different end on each end). I unbolted the old cable from the carburettor, and from the pedal end and pulled it free of the car, the pedal end appeared to be a perfect match to the narrow nipple on the univeral fit brake cable so I cut off the other end and fed it through the pedal and out through the bulkhead, I then offered up the outer cable and after roughly cutting it to length chopped it down and fed the inner cable through it, the end result was a perfect fit, the inner cable seems the same diameter as the original and the outer cable has a teflon liner so it should remain smooth operating, I will get some photos in a bit and place there here on the post ,
total cost £5.99 1/2 hour of my time

Pedal end simply fed through bulkhead end is a simple sit in and leave job carburettor end
