Oh my word.
I'm so pleased to see this.
And thank you for putting it on here - unfortunately, like many other car clubs, we are being pretty much being ignored now, thanks to a well known (anti) social networking site, where most discussion lasts for a couple of clicks and "likes", then disappears forever.

I'm the new boy so I must be careful what I say but I despise the 'anti social networking site' and will have nothing whatever to do with it though I understand what you mean.
I belong to 2 other forums, on different subjects, and they suffer in the same way but what is clear to me is that a forum which makes it easy and welcome to post photos will survive and prosper and frankly it is not so easy here. . I understand nothing of the digital world but the most successful site that I contribute to, trucknetuk, allows you to post a photo directly with no need of exterior photo storage sites. I imagine that that would make it more expensive to operate but the other site has made it more difficult to post pictures and is suffering from a noteable reduction in the quantity and quality of contributions. You get what you pay for.
David.

Well done David she now looks fantastic. Thanks for posting. The forum is not as quiet as some may think, social media has it's place but so does a dedicated "club" type forum. Attaching pics. is not too bad if done from a desk/laptop, iirc an attachment can easily be posted from your desktop or a link from an external hosting site is just about acceptable. The problem will be the lack of development put into the forum platforms as they become less prominant or more to the point, less lucrative for the software developers. Heve fun in that very rare model estate, it should give you trouble free sterling service now sorted.

My word it looks fantastic, a bit of me regrets selling it but I'd never have got it looking like that, so well done and thank you.
Is that the original wing or a replacement? It had a pretty big dent in!
If you are taking it to any shows I'd be keen to know, I'd love to try to pop along and see it in the flesh, so to speak.

I agree with the earlier comments-the car looks great! Glad to see the effort you've put into it and I'd also like to see it "in the flesh" (as it were) sometime.

Thank you for the kind comments. No Gez, the wing is original. My mate other David is one hell of a tin basher!
I certainly intend to be at the Princethorpe do. It's only just down the road!

Regarding the user friendliness (or otherwise) of putting photos on here. Yes I rather agree that it is a nuisance and pain (and I'm supposed to understand this thing!) But in all honesty, this website forum is a free site, so can't really complain.
Like you and others, because I am older and more of an analogue type of chap, I really don't "get" all the fiddly things that have to be done to produce some services and sites.
The thing is though that this forum has been going for the best part of 15 years now, and many has been the time that I have thought about shutting it down and perhaps trying to find a more easy to use alternative. But doing that would remove all the old posts and subjects - although given the lack of use, if we could find an alternative provider (not the blessed FB, which although I admit I do have an account there, I really don't like it) we could in effect start again and leave this current forum as closed but still readable.
Just need to find an alternative provider. Any suggestions, anyone?

I would definitely be against handing it over to fb. I think it's really nice that the club have a site of their own and 15 years are not to be discarded lightly.
But then again, what do I know?

At the risk of going off topic on this thread :-) I have dipped my toe in F/B and found it a tad cold. I keep a weather eye on it because despite it's downfalls it does have some good DAF information, and it is the choice of the younger next breed of owners. As for the possibility of choosing an alternate platform for the club, that is a difficult one, there is of course Instagram and Twitter. Nothing compares to the thread based attributes of a forum, so unless the other platforms change the format it is going to mean a compromise. Personally I find this forum busy enough to be worthwhile, and once uploaded the photo's are better positioned than the automatic placement used by all the more modern platforms. Whatever happens, in my opinion it is important for the club is represented on the t'internet.
