Taken week off to work on my own Daf66 .recently arrived as project so it's getting some well deserved tlc. New brakes pipes belts and replacement engine .But the choice do I leave it as 1100cc or change to 1300. Decisions to be made. Anyway it's to be used daily so few mods will be made.

We want pictures! I agree, the 66 is an excellent daily driver, and a few sensible improvements will make it all the more so. I'd suggest inertia seat belts, halogen headlamps and a decent radio as starters. I've fitted a DAB radio/CD player in my 33, and I found a device on "a well-known internet site" that allows the car's original analogue aerial to be used to power the DAB signal. It really works well and gives a whole host of extra radio stations (including Radio 4 Extra!) This saves having to drill another hole in the car's body for the DAB aerial.

Photos please! ;-) I say the bigger the better although I hear the 1100 is a sweeter revving engine.

I have an idea G :-)
Why don't you you upgrade the 1100 to Marathon spec, Cam/Carb, maybe even up the compression a bit, get it to the sweet spot, and then once running to perfection you can do the same to mine :-)))

Interesting to learn there's more to an 1108cc "Marathon" engine than simply a higher compression head. The valve timings clearly make a difference, too. I wonder what would happen if a "Marathon" cam were fitted to an ordinary 1108cc engine.....
