That looks lovely. I think we may have read about Butterscotch several years ago before it went to the USA. It will make a great story - what an adventure!

That looks lovely. I think we may have read about Butterscotch several years ago before it went to the USA. It will make a great story - what an adventure! Thank you for the kind words - yes "Butterscotch" is a bit of a celebrity already, it was refurbished and placed on display in the USA DAF Museum at John De Bruin's place in Vermont. My understanding is John purchased it from a guy who exported classic cars from the UK to the USA around 2007, and then did a full cosmetic / partial mechanical restoration. He finished the job around 2010. He won a trophy with it at a small car show in New England, and has been on display in his museum ever since. John showed interest in selling it on the USA Daf forum board and we struck a deal which then prompted me to fly to Vermont to visit the car and museum firsthand. On 9/23 she was loaded on a transport truck and tomorrow around noon it should be in my driveway, ready to share space with a few Fiats among other cars. Plans for the car once it's here is to give it a complete shakedown of it's mechanical bits, adjust everything to spec, replace the old tires, engine and diff oils, brake fluid as well as address the inoperative speedometer.

That’s a smart looking 46, I’ve seen it on John’s page I think before. Very nice X-19 you have there too.

Here's how "Pinderkaas" looks today after a good wash and a few cosmetic changes:

it is a beauty! Dont like hubcaps?
btw the dutch word for peanutbutter is PINDAKAAS. i suppose you used googletranslate which is notorious for wrong output? (ask Madonna, she made up some dutch lyrics that way and we still laugh out loud if that song is on the radio).

Ha yes gromsound I found out my mistake. Mr selection of spelling comes from 5 decades of not speaking dutch and having my other non-dutch speaking siblings morphing it into "pinder". Correction duly noted and her name change is revised to Pindakaas.
Guess it reminds me of when JFK told the world he was a donut (Berliner).
As for hubcaps, - no not a fan - I think it looks a bit more sporty without and that's the look I am going for. The tires are a bit wider (155/65-14) and I ordered the black wheel decal inserts from dafhobby. I might take it one step further and get the chrome 66 GLS acorn nuts but I kinda like the graphite color they now have. I have also acquired hella driving lights, silver marathon stripes, and chrome bullet racing mirrors.
Pindakaas is sportief!

Ah, it will be a 46 marathon! Pindakaas+stripes like the marathon coupes.
You might have considered 155-13 marathon wheels (D/V66 option) and have 165 or 175 tyres fitted. Most sporty Dafs over here have the V66GLS alloy wheels (fine parallel spokes, silver and black). Sebring mirrors would already look much better than the uni plastic autoshop ones you have now. now we are waiting for the satin black hood (bonnet in GB) with rubber rally quick-releases on the sides :-)
And than the infernal roar of, er... the 850 cc boxertwin?? ;-)

Pinderkaas will have some sporty stripes but I don't think it has the chops for going full rally mode. Yet. As for the infernal roar - well I do have a 1.5" exhaust system on it with a small glasspack resonator so it has a rather deep tone, but there are so many other noises it isn't the exhaust anyone hears when I motor down the road. I have a feeling the bearings on the clutch mainshaft are shot (loud whirring sound whenever flywheel engages with prop shaft). Also there are all sorts of rattles and squeaks that need to traced down and corrected. Right now she sounds about as sporty as a wood chipper.
