Those of us DAF lovers who have "Yesterday" TV channel, theres a programme on Thursday at 8 pm called "Bangers And Cash" Its about a Yorkshire Classic Car Auction house. This weeks show promises DAF interest ! They say that "the team struggles to explain how a DAF 33 gearbox works...."! Cant wait to see it ! "Yesterday" is on Freeview ch25, Freesat ch159, Sky ch155 and others, and uktvplay.uktv.co.uk/shows/bangers-and-cash/watch-online

Just watched it on catch-up. Very funny! Does anyone know the owner & is he in the Owners' Club? A real "old school" gent, who knows his cars!

This episode was recorded in 2018, as Derek said the MOT was up in January 2019. It was first sold in September 2018 but again in March2019, due to ill health. It now has no MOT, but is "taxed" until October 2020, suggesting it is still on the road. I do not expect to find any personal information because of TV data protection.

what a pity, we're just in a week of rainstorms so my sat reception was far from enough to make a picture, just colored pixels and a shred of sound (beeb 1-4 clear picture, yesterday uses very low transmission power it is always been marginal reception). can't watch it with the link above (blocked outside UK), haven't got a swipefone so thats the end of options for this '62 model i fear.
trouble with dafs on tv (especially outside NL) is the sheer unbelievable amount of fairy tales and utter technical nonsense that even ''car people'' will tell. a german series about 4 brothers in a junk yard was the tops. they tipped a (rather nice) 55 over to show the vario and then the ''specialist'' of the 4 showed the differential (pointing to primary gearbox), and explained the reverse gear: ''by pulling the discs together till the perimeters touch and so turn opposite to each other (releasing the belt tension)''. Well, how should they now eh? However they all know miraculously that dafs run at full speed in reverse, how strange. a (again german) classic car mag added soothingly 'of course in reality a safety lockup was installed'. maybe to keep some people from bad ideas...

Most UKTV stations repeat their programmes throughout the week. This episode, (No.2 of series 2) of B&C with the Daf is on Yesterday again on Sunday (tomorrow) at 10PM and again on Monday 9PM. There are series 1 repeats still showing, so if you miss either of those, no doubt it will be on again in the future.

I usually record channels that have ads, and skip them on playback. Ad breaks are usually about 4 minutes, so my recorder has "jump forward" set to that, so one button press, and no ads!!

Ladies and gentlemen, here is a little treat...
I watched the programme (in between all the adverts and promos for forthcoming shows) and at the same time managed to record the relevant bits featuring the DAF 33.
Not a bad programme on the whole, but the usual "original humourous comments" and general ignorance about how the transmission works. But then I perked up a bit when the auctioneer seemed to "get" it and then the eventual buyer seems happy.
The seller, Marcus, used to be a member of the club, and used to contribute on here under the name "Dillyman".
And here is my hastily edited video...
Hope it works. Even if I say so myself, this is an achievement on my part, because I did this using part analogue technology (which is what I understand more than the digital stuff) The "index" photo of some DAF 33s is one of my photos of a club event many years ago.

thanks for that Richard! sunday was another supercloudstormed evening, no chance of any pixel coming through. I'll try again tonight though, to get my uncompressed 16:9 PAL analog archive copy on V2000 (of course).
came to the right buyer in the end! how about that claim ''less than 10 in UK'' that cant be true, right? anyone got a spare headlight rim for the chap?

It's very hard to know for sure how many are left. But it is probably in the low tens. I'm pleased the recording worked. I genuinely don't know how you copy things from the TV onto a computer but I have worked out how to copy a DVD onto Youtube. As I have a DVD recorder - ancient now but works when you bash it - I recorded the programme stop and start onto a video tape - yes, really - then copied the tape onto a DVD then uploaded the DVD to Youtube. Quite a lot of effort but I managed it!

I say What Larks! Yes, here I am again at last but older, in no way wiser, and at least three times as ugly. I have also developed Parkinsons Disease which viewers may have detected and which accounts for the disposal of Becky 33. Also loaded on Derek's transporter were my Metro and my classic Saab coupe leaving me bereft of all fun cars. I do still drive my '05 Panda auto but it don't compare with the oldies. I also frighten the natives with my mobility scooter "Whizzbang". Here in sunny West Kirby I am in good company with about a couple of hundred more of the damn things; we clog the aisles of the local supermarkets.
I don't remember how the ridiculously high reserve of £3,500 came about but I was quite happy to agree the £2k at which the hammer fell. It seems that the new keeper was also pleased with his purchase. Now, of course, I suffer from severe withdrawal symptoms! What have I done? Anyone know of a bargain price 33 in perfect as new condition whose lunatic owner is more than keen to part with?
n.b. "Dillyman". Dilly was my lovely primrose 44 estate which I eventually sold into Ireland some years ago and which was subsequently completely destroyed in a garage fire.

'Yesterday' can be 'watched again' using 'UKTV'. Use it also for 'Dave'.

A very warm welcome back Dillyman, hope to see more of you in the future. Aha, Good to see Dillyman back, Marcus. We always go through phases of regretting selling or letting things go. But sometimes, we just have to be "sensible"...

Dear Dillyman, watching all the way from holland i was very surprised to see this TV programme. It was clear you were in the vario knowledge while the auctioneers, well... blissful ignorance i think. Good that the new owner also is a born varioman ;-) You may opt for a cross between the 33 and your whizzthing like i did (see link below). I suppose if it is then (simply) limited to a certain top speed you may be allowed to drive it after all. In holland these things are called moped-cars, Vmax 45 km/h. Good luck, best regards from Dafland! Andre. gromsound.mfbfreaks.com/33e/33egb.htm
