So I'm looking forward to getting my newly painted up 46 back home today after being at the spray shop for 3 months!! I know, but it was under cover and where could I go with it? It's only 6 miles from my home so I decided to tow it back with my A frame with the 4x4, as the DAF engine wasn't behaving and I didn't want to break down, ha ha! I'd got halfway back when I heard a sound from behind which sounded ominous. On inspection, one of the rear wheels was loose with all 3 nuts nearly at the end of the threads. The spray shop had painted the wheels and obviously not done them up tight. I should have checked them I suppose but would you? So I changed the wheel as the holes had become oval! Then almost home, about 600 yards away and another noise from behind, more serious now, as the A frame had failed and the DAF ended up on the pavement not before colliding with the rear of the 4x4. The nearside A frame connection was ok but the offside had come away at the suspension arm due to a split pin failing allowing the securing nut to come undone and then the pin pulled out and control was lost. So, very little damage to the 4x4, but the offside wing has a nice crease and the area around the lights badly dented. I think I maybe looking at a replacement front nearside wing. Does anyone have a decent spare new or used?? I must say I towed vehicles 100s of miles with this A frame without problem, but today must be my unlucky one. I'm still waiting for disaster no. 3.

Buy a lottery ticket! You never know..........
Sorry to hear about your news. I've towed dozens of cars over hundreds (maybe thousands) of miles and only had one failure. Fortunately I was towing the car, a Citroen Xsara, uphill when I heard a strange noise and a jolt from the rear of the towing vehicle, and was able to bring both the towingand the towed car to a halt at the roadside. Mind you, I was frightened out of my wits as a result!

That's terrible news Steve, ive only had one issue as we had a rover 213s fall off a dolly on a very sharp bend, the police turned up at that exact point and tried to do my mate for unsafe load. they when we asked if they could give us a shove back on they said sorry were busy and drove off.
i managed to do the stupidest of things the other day and drove my 4 year old volvo v60r under a barrier with the bikes on, now that's been expensive so i feel your pain

Just going into the tip and I heard someone say "watch your tailgate mate" I hadn't noticed it had sprung open, that would have been an expensive mistake !!

Damn...that's a blow. Would love to see some photos of the spray job Steve Well you can have a look at the good half/three quarters very soon when I put the lights, etc. back but, I won't show you the damaged wing. Makes me weep to look at it.
