At long last, after a great deal of internet digging and 'phoning around, I've succeeded in tracking down, buying and fitting a rev counter (tachometric relay, to be technically correct!) to my Daf 33. I've posted the link to the item, via the Amazon.co.uk website. It has four connections; one to ignition live, one to the sidelight circuit, one to the coil pick-up and the fourth is the earth. I've mounted mine in the middle, under the radio, on a panel that can hold three dials. Connecting it up was fairly easy, and I ran a thin wire from the "contact points" side of the coil, back through the grommet where the wires pass from the engine bay to the passenger compartment and to the rear of the rev counter. it lights up beautifully when the sidelights are switched on and does that "thing" whereby it swings from zero to 8,000 RPM before settling at the rev level of the engine. When driving around it seems to sit between 2-3,000 RPM and rarely goes over 3,500 RPM and sits happily at 800 RPM on tick-over. I'm gong to fit and connect vacuum gauges on either side of it, to measure the vacuum on both sides of the primary units sometime soon. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00M83MORY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Now that is interesting. Good research there! Might have to "borrow" this for a certain magazine.
Talking of which, the December issue should be landing on floors soon. I understand some people have already received theirs.

I understand some people have already received theirs. Later today I will be patrolling the Avenue, searching for a small red Peugeot van, with "Royal Mail" emblazoned on its side, and shall await the contents therein (well, one particular item) with interest......
