Hi all
i bought a DAF 66 on a him at auction last summer . It’s brilliant! Later I bought a nice Triumph Herald convertible as well. I sold that one in a few months as it wasn’t a patch on the joys of VarioMatic . Now that I know DAFs rule . I have to admit I am actually really very useless with cars . I have a local garage that I can use but I would need to save him the effort of getting parts . The engine needs a really good going over , just won’t start in anything less than full summer . And the seals around the doors need replacing as it converts into a bath when it rains.
Could anyone let me know where I can get parts such as distributor cap and etc, carburettor, seals and all that ?

Hi, Well done, there are several suppliers for parts, there is the club stock of spares via Steve Bidwell [Club Secretary], Classic Dafs via Graham Meinert, Essex Dafs, via Matt Roberts, to name a few. Some specialise in secondhand parts whilst the club stock is a good source of new. I hope you will join the Daf Owners Club as members are always willing to help and often have bits and pieces to pass on. The magazine is excellent and is a mine of information. There is also a a good source of all parts[new and used from Daf Hobby in the Netherlands. Hope this helps.

We love pictures on this Forum, so let's see some! As Starider says, the club (which I'm sure you've joined-if not, you soon will.....) is an excellent source of advice, comments and ideas, so well worth joining!
Whereabouts are you? Help could be nearer than you think....... (or not, depending where you are!)

Welcome, we are all passionate about our Dafs here and happy to help if we can. I agree with what's been said so far, the club is an excellent source of very reasonably priced spares and Dafhobby in the Netherlands has lots of remanufactured parts and can supply most things if a little more expensive. Think "normal classic" ie classic Ford prices. Good luck with your 66 and please put some pics up, anything you need to know please ask on here.

"I have a Daf" is indeed true! A Daf 66 1300, so the "top dog" of Dafs, that looks in pretty good condition, if the picture's anything to go by! AND it's red, which, together with a bright yellow, are the best colours for them.
Looking forward to hearing more of your "belting" good Daf stories as time goes on.....

Thanks for that , she is in good condition I think really . Some rust holes by the windscreen that a body shop said were not hard to repair . The rest looks fine , the odd bubble really interior was replaced a couple years ago. Engine had all new hoses etc done then also but needs carburettor serviced and new ignition things . In summer she starts in the button , won’t start at all in winter without a spray starter and even then with great difficulty she needs door seals badly tho. How do you know she is a 1300? The twin headlamps ?

Yes, the twin headlamps were only fitted to the 1300 "Marathon" cars. Other 66s were badged as "1300" cars and had the single headlamp arrangement, and although they had the "Marathon" engine they didn't have the "full monty" Marathon kit, which consisted of high-backed seats, a central instrument binnacle & wider tyres. On your car the inner 2 lamps are main beam only, and are 55 watt halogens. If you want to improve the dipped beam, change the outer lamps of 60/55 watt halogens, called P45 bulbs; they fit into the non-halogen openings on the lamp, so there's no need to alter the lamp, but they give more light.
