Your chassis number is the identifier on a car that age you may need to get the car checked and certified for the DVLA. This is a service that the DAF owners club provides or at least they did when I last checked. Before tax exemption became rolling again if you had a 72 registered car you had to get the club to certify it’s age in order to get historic tax class. I would contact the club directly by the email on the website this is something they should be able to help you with.

I've had dealings with the D.V.L.A. and have always found the staff helpful and cooperative. As to the numbers you need to give them, the Daf 33 has a plate in the engine compartment, on the off-side, with the relevant numbers. May I ask how old your car is? If it's a post-73 car it should have a number that stars "3303" but I'd need you to confirm the car's age before I could give a definitive answer. If your original registration number is known, by any old documents you may have, it is possible to have this number re-issued, for which you would need form V765, which is available on the internet. The form then need to be counter-signed by the Daf Owners' Club, who are authorised on behalf of the D.V.L.A. to carry out this work. Membership of the club is not a requirement for this, as the club levy a charge for the administration necessary, however, joining the club would be advantageous in terms of garnering information about your car.
Sorry if this has gone on a bit, but I've done this myself; it's complex, but worth doing and if you need more information, please contact me.
May I ask where your car is and if you would post some pictures on the forum? We LOVE pictures!

Our Club secretary is the DVLA approved DAF cars nominated person in the UK to confirm/provide information that they require. He has done quite a lot of these sort of cases on behalf of DAF owners over the years. So yes, just send an email - he doesn't take part in these online forums - and he will liaise with you directly. Email address, if you can't see it on the website, is - dafownersclub(at)bolsover(dot)co(dot)uk
