Attachment DeletedAfter a little run I returned home and got out of the car to be met by a couple who happened to be walking past the house. The gentleman asked "Is it belt driven?" Yes I replied, he went on to compliment the car and added "Yes my friend had one, but that was in Nairobi" Well I wasn't expecting that. Later in the day I was parking in a carpark when I got a tap on the drivers window, a youngish couple said "what a lovely car, we have never seen a DAF before" We had a little chat about DAF cars and off they went, pleased with their encounter. This is not uncommon to all of us as we enjoy our cars, but I for one never tire of the affection for our cars.

This is so true. Old cars in general make people look, but the DAFs do help people smile as well. And more people than you might imagine may have either owned one, or often had a family member with one.

Yes, agreed. I can't go anywhere without people waving, flashing their lights at me, sounding horn, laughing etc. I even had one guy who followed me for quite some distance, trying to get my attention to pull over. Eventually I noticed him and pulled over as he wanted to take some photos of the old girl! 'I haven't seen one of those in decades' he said and we had a lengthy chat about old cars. I love seeing old cars on the road too.
