Just a quick question, has the club or anyone on the forum have any info as to whom now owns the Daf 32 which recently sold on the dreaded Bay? How about the blue Daf33 from 2 weeks ago with the airbrush graphics on the roof & bootlid? And lastly the poor red 33 from the Feb 21 Anglia car auction which has been touted on & off the Bay? Last I read on this car, the young lad from this forum went for her and for whatever reasons didn't subsequently materialise? Talking of the Anglia car auction, it appears the Daf 44 recently went for circa £900 Inc commission. Hopefully the new owner of any of these Dafs can possibly post a few lines as to their recent purchases. Happy Daffing 😊

Very good and understandable questions.
Personally I don't know the answers.
Sadly, it seems that DAFs often finish up on what I call the "auction site of DAF doom", my eventually get a new owner who may/maynot make themselves known. And even if/when they do, they often don't hang around or keep in touch for long. Sad really, given the rarity of DAFs. You'd think that people would like to be in touch with other owners, but heyho, there's no compulsion.
And often, as you have noticed, the cars reappear sooner or later for sale, either because someone bought one thinking it might be a quick money maker, or they frankly don't understand the unique nature of the cars and discover "faults".
"'ere we 'ave a DAF car which is automatic, and I am led to believe that they are rare, so can only go in value. Only bid if you are genuine, or I'll set me dog on you".Oooops, gone into doom mode!

I agree Richard, our poor Dafs do seem to have a habit of ending up on the evil bay! I admit however I am a regular On there, mainly to seek out little trinkets of NOS Daf spares for my Daf33 project. The latest find last week was some track rod ends listed under classic car ball joints. No mention of the manufacture under main heading except in brief main description. Sometimes it pays to peruse under different searches other than say Daf 33 etc. Also, I'm in agreement with you 100% with regard to someone's perception that because its a quirky dutch belt driven automatic car it's uber rare and must be worth thousands... As I'm sure the chaps at the classic car dealership in Northampton who purchased the red 33 from the ACA in Feb thought they'd got the bargain of the century! Fingers truly burnt there I think, especially with their initial asking price after wiping the car over with an oily rag. Having said that, I genuinely hope this Daf has a happy ending with an enthusiastic new owner but not at their last asking price!! But you never know, there could be someone who will see her & think " wow what a bargain, I'll Ave a bit of that!" incidentally, having just joined the DOC after deliberating for 6 yrs, I see that in the recent Belting along there wasn't a classified ad section? Is there not much call for adverts now with the social media which we are now spoilt with? I must take this opportunity though to say what a well presented magazine you put together Richard! and packed with stories, technical info etc... Took the magazine into work & spent 3 pleasant hrs reading cover to cover, I just wish I had joined sooner (hold my head in shame!!).

The lad who was interested in the red 33, for whatever reason didn't go through with the deal, but bought the yellow 44 from Cornwall.

Thank you. Better late than never?!
Talking of the magazine, the next one has just been printed and will hopefully start landing in letter boxes later this week.
We haven't had adverts for a very long time. Even in the 80s, when at one point we had about 400 members, classified ads were quite a rarity. Social media is changing things in so many ways. The blessed Fakebook is diluting things so much, because there are various "DAF groups" but of course only a very small pool of potential punters. So far, the DOC has kept away from it.
These forum boards of ours have gone very quiet in the last couple of years, again due to Fakebook et al. Unfortunately it is challenging to put photos on here, but unlike the Facebook, posts and messages stay visible all the time.
Progress eh?!

I do not have a FBook account, but still manage very well with forums like ours. It is easy to post photos, all you have to do is reply using the "reply" by clicking on the reply in the top right of the window, (not "post quick reply") then add attachment. then follow instructions in the pop-up window.

Although I'm a technophobe I do have fake book and also on the EssexDafs fb forum. A great bunch of guys & gals on there, and met up with some of them in July when I ventured up from my base on the Isle of Wight to their barn in Sible Hedingham Essex for an open day (being an Essex boy originally).I recall having difficulty uploading photos of my Daf33 purchase on this site back in 2015 which was frustrating to say the least! However I do enjoy going through posts on here with matters relating to the Daf33 going back to the early days and likewise the photos which owners have uploaded.

With regards to the quiet spell on the DOC forum, I'm guilty in as much that I try to post on a regular basis Daf related ramblings on the Essexdafs fb page. If I can work out how to drag all my stories from that site over to this forum or someone else who is techy that can tell me the process then I can attempt to drag the stories over!Maybe you have some clue Richard how I can do this? I haven't saved anything on my pc or phone other than photos, and the thought of having to rewrite the posts all over again will take an age! 🙄

All I can think is if you copy the words from your other posts elsewhere, start a new thread on here, then paste them in...

Ah OK Richard, some time over the weekend will attempt (being the operative word!) to try this. Can I just say that the eagerly awaited Sep edition of Belting along in the new style were an excellent read! Well done and a credit to your efforts. I resisted the temptation to open the magazine at home until the following day at work, sitting with a nice coffee it helped towards what would've been a monotonous long shift on Friday... Shhhh don't tell my manager! 😉
