Hi Rover2 and welcome You really should replace the belts as pairs on these. Like any other belt, they stretch a little with use and having one stretched / worn and one new isn't good for either of them. I believe (sure someone else will know for certain - may even be able to quote a price!) that Danny in Holland can supply these. He's really helpful and speaks much better English than I speak Dutch ;D Err, anyone remember his email off the top of their heads?

Just rechecked the handbook and they say it's "essential" that both belts are changed at the same time. Was hoping I could find where they list the expected life but no joy. From memory, though, I believe it was at least 40000 miles.

Oh my word... Another TOG!
Yes, both belts must be replaced at the same time. With normal sensible driving and as long as they have been fitted and tensioned correctly, and not been contaminated with oil, belts should last for thousands and thousands of miles.
We or DAF Club Nederland can supply the, or as mentioned above, Danny at DAF Hobby.
Anyway, must get ready for the DAF week, then the TOG Convention...

I didn't realise they're a club spare as well! Great news though - it'll save a little postage and time for a spare set when Betty goes on-road in a couple of months (figure it's worth carrying them in the car cos I doubt the AA will have them onboard )

Hi rover2.
I bought a pair of belts from danny in january this year. price worked out ar about £110. The daf owners club was about the same price. The belts were roulands belts which can apparently last up to 80,000 miles instead of the 40,000 on the cord reinforced belts. With a bit of luck, the belts will last as long as the car.
put a swear box by the car when you are fitting the belts and by the time you have finished fitting the belts you should have enough money to buy any other parts you need for the car ;D ;D.
the belts are not that difficult to fit but can be very awkward at times.
let us know how you get on.

Coincidentally, the next magazine will have a report about 40,000 miles...
Should be out in time for Christmas - weather and printer permitting.
