Hi there, I've looked at this on eBay but can't find anywhere that says it's a 1600.

Yes, I noticed that too. Perhaps Martin has made contact with the seller?
From the pics, it looks like a standard DAF 66.
Hope it's saved!

I emailed to ask the engine size and he said "The engine I believe isn't a standard DAF engine but either a renault or Peugeot engine and is 1600cc"
Martin.
PS The wheels look to have been changed? Also wing mirrors on the bonnet, is that normal?

Hello again Martin,
The wheels just look as if they have been fitted with cheap plastic wheel trim covers that you buy from Halfords etc. Pretty much guarantee that they are the standard DAF 13" wheels underneath.
It is quite normal and was common for DAF 66s to have wing mirrors fitted. REmember in those days, most cars of any make did not have door mirrors, but wing mirrors. On the DAF of course, they are actually fitted in the bonnet - a brave fitter will have had to drill a half inch whole in it on either side!
The engine - well, if the chap says it's special, then so be it. But it seems a bizarre thing to do.
Mind you, I have noticed this with a lot of classic and old cars seen for sale on Ebay of all makes - previous owners have decided to modify them for reasons best known to themselves. As I say, the rest of the car looks absolutely normal from the pic.
it is entirely likely that the seller does not really know about the engine at all, and it could for all we know be the standard unit. I.e. 1108cc or maybe 1289cc Renault lump.
