Another one saved and the last six months seem to have passed really quickly. Good work all.

Thanks mate, she idling ok now then? It was a bit wobbly last week! I suppose she was still a bit cold and hadn't run in 11 years!

It idle speed is ok but throtle sticks open a little so then ticks over high again till you nudge the throtle back to off.

Could do also get out the WD40 it has not been used in 11 years, I would keep jumping on the brakes on the way to the station as well.

Yup, I'll take a bottle of WD with me, and I'll test the brakes on the way there.

Now with a new shiny MOT certificate of the green variety Drives very nicely, vario is still a bit loud, I think I'll change/top up the oil and have a look at the pulley faces when I get back tonight. At least I've only got one side to check

yes that is the problem john.
the single belt is a poor idea in that it uses half of the 66 set (with different weights in the primary) you get allot of vibration and as the weight of the pulleys are not central or balanced. this can cause the support casting to crack as well.
it is hard to fit the belt as the the pulleys must run in line so you have to put a straight edge against the set to make sure they are level or it chews up the belt. And with using a similar set up to the 66 the diaphragms tend to cut through on the old sealing ring, this means that they get taken apart and loose their balance even if you mark them up as you are still fitting a new part into drum. then about 35mph you get a vibration that rattles the windows out ;D add a noisy torque tube and you think the floors falling out ;D
good thing is though that is is less resistance from one belt ;D

You are right john another coat on the wings would dull them down and blend them in more.

I'm sure I'll get round to that in the next couple of months. Hopefully when I've sourced some good doors for it...

I've bought some ducting to replace he elephant trunks from the heat exchangers. £6,63+VAT and delivery each. They're flexible steam ducting hoses, and they can cope with up to -30C and 125C with short bursts of 150C Don't think they'll ever get that hot will they? I measured the size, and it looks like 51mm should be a perfect fit. hoseworld.com/acatalog/HIGH_PRESSURE_STEAM_DUCTING.htmlI'll let you know how I get on!

the belt that has been fitted is an old stock that has gone hard so it will only have a short life. when it has cleaned up the pulleys a new one will be fitted ;D
