This is a cut and paste from the DCA forum. Back at end of April I spotted a DAF in pretty rough shape on ebay. I joked with John about it and somehow let him talk me into going for it! Details: 1961 DAF 750 Super de Luxe Serial # 034335 Engine # 750AA-035239 (original motor) Colors: Oliva / Distingo Arrived: December 11, 1961 Ship: S.S. Wike Mileage: 33,392 ebay listing These are the pictures from the listing: I was able to get John to help me pick up the car from it's location in east central New York state. I drove from Maine to his place in Vermont, and we left the next morning for New York. The car on pickup day. John loading her on the trailer. I was helping too! Someone had to take the photos. ;D Back at DAF Central later in the day. Next week we will start to dismantle her. More to come!

I saw this on the DCA forum, what a great find Bob! I especially like the period air conditioning! ;D I'm sure we are all looking forward to seeing future progress reports on this one!

Cut & paste from the DCA forum. This weekend I trekked to DAF Central in Vermont, a trip of about 300 miles each way for me, to start pulling the 750 apart. We started early Sunday morning around 6:30am and finished up about 7pm. Thor and his mighty hammer! The hood has been removed. The engine compartment. The interior. The windshield has been removed. Rear glass removed. John hooking up his makeshift engine hoist. Yankee ingenity! ;D Notice doors have been removed as well as rear side glass. Watch the paint! The engine slides out. The drive shaft came out easily and showed no signs of damage. The engine bay. More bits removed from the engine bay. The rear with trunk lid, lights and bumper removed. Gas tank removed. Vario cover removed. The rear valence with a bad case of Tin Worm. More rusty bits. Finished for the day. John and I spent about 12 hours on her. We will start removing the transmission and the front and rear suspension components in two weeks.

Well done all! Considering how she has been stood out in the elements for all that time, she looks remarkably sound. Look forward to the next report!

Lots of hard work ahead but worthwhile indeed. I never realised these cars were in the States. Quite amazing really. Well done for taking this on.
