Of going for petrol these days and finding the only vehicles on the forecourt are your two Dafs and a pair of c.1910 Triumph motorcycles? Sadly, something modern and boring snuck in to spoil that last photo The riders had set off from Derby this morning, so had already covered about 170 miles today, and were heading for the ferry to Ireland with a final destination of Kerry. By the time they return next week they reckon they'll have done about 1200 miles each. Now that's dedication ;D

That "something modern" happens to be a Vauxhall Corsa C, which in 2084 will be exciting, much sought after and ancient. ;D Which, fortunately, I won't be around to see ;D

If Practical Classics magazine's article on petrol is to be believe, none of them will be around in 2084 as there is only another 45 years worth of crude oil supplies to be tapped...

Thats the easily accesible stuff. Their are 3000 years worth of oil trapped in sands around the world. This stuff takes a lot of proccessing and is not currently viable because the liquid reserves are far cheaper to extract. Petrol can also be made synthetically but again at the moment it is far cheaper to refine crude oil. Times will change as the standard stocks grow short prices will rise which will make the other sources viable. Yes its gonna get more expensive but its not going to run out yet.
