Progress report as promised........ Rusty front wing gone, nice new one in place. Old sills gone and new ones welded in place. Rear lip and light surround repaired. Both bottom rear quarters have repair panels welded in. Really pleased with the progress, almost ready for paint.

Lots done this weekend, the interior is all refitted after the welding. Centre console fitted and sporting a couple of useful gauges, water temp and oil pressure. The sender units fitted ready to connect up when I find the lighting circuit and an ignition live. And the console in place Still undecided what to put in the middle hole???

Update due I think.
This weekend has been a mad Daffing time. Finally Dotty is to get a giant leap forward and goes into the bodyshop tomorrow.
The deal is that I do all the stripping and some prep. work and a better man than me does the skilled stuff. In order to remain almost legal for the trip, the rear lights are gaffer taped to the inside of the boot and will show through the holes. At the front, I have stuck some repeaters in the opening where the bumper brackets go to give me indicators :-) the headlamps stay and I can remove them when I get there. Number plate on the rear parcel shelf and hopefully an understanding Bobby will let me on my way should I get pulled.
The job will take as long as it takes and I am going to be lost without her. At least some decorating might get done at last !!

Look who is back home !!!!! It's been a long journey to get to this point but worth it. Just a few bits left to do, boot lock and sill trim. And a couple of reversing lights.

Thanks guys, I am very pleased with how she has turned out. Next it has to be waxoyled to make sure it stays solid. Annoyingly there is one tappet out from when the head gasket was done so I want to get that sorted asap, and I forgot to drill the aerial hole before painting But all in all i'm a very happy chappy.

So, this will probably be the last update on this thread for a while. Dotty is now just about finished and unless something goes horribly wrong I shouldn't need to add much from now on. The most recent job I did was the diaphragms. For anyone wanting to tackle this job, it is not difficult but it is fiddly, I got some excellent advice from Steve before starting, and asked around on the forums. All I will say is, get the car as high as possible preferably on a garage ramp. Do the offside first as it is easier to get to. The techniques learned on that side will serve you well for the awkward side. Here are some pics of Dotty taken today. The location is quite special, a beauty spot 5 mins from my house where a family friend used to let me drive her 44 and park it when I was about 14. EDIT The wheels are Minilites, I forgot to mention them !! they were put on to improve the handling a little (although the 66 handles superbly in factory spec). Dotty's previous wheels/tyres are to be fitted to my new 44 as they are in great condition and hardly worn. The centre caps I made by trimming down some tie pins and using epoxy resin to fix in place.

Dotty looks super!
I hope we do hear more about her...
What are the wheels? Must be a story there!

My only excuse is..... well I haven't got one really, but in a moment of devilment I thought I would give her tail lights the "Halo" effect :-)) Not the best photo's to show it, but you get the idea ? And finger over the lens sums up my photo ability.

Well another year, another MOT. She passed with no advisories although I am always a bit anxious waiting for the answer.
I have been leaving the test a bit later each year so the weather is better, woke up this morning to a lovely sunny day but heavily salted roads :-(

Great!
Isn't it always a feeling of relief, even if you are quite confident in the first place.

If anyone else is as daft as me and wants to change the instrument light to LED, this is the result........ Of course you could go for white or even green. And matching oil pressure and water temp dials in the centre console :-) There is one more modification that I have done, a bit controversial so it will be revealed at Princethorpe later this month (unless it gets spotted before).
