Having recently inherited a low mileage 55 from a very dear relative I am planning a full restoration, I am well aware that this will be akin to flushing my money away as I have travelled this road already, several times! However I have absolutely no idea where to begin with parts supply and what is available, any help and contacts would be very greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

Hello, Well, items such as drive belts, routine service items, brake pipes and components are available from us. It's always worth asking our spares expert and founder - email dafownersclub(at) bolsover.co.uk Another popular supplier of spares is DAF Hobby in the Netherlands (who do supply over here) www.dafhobby.comYour car sounds interesting - if you have any photos, we'd love to see them on here, and also if you have any idea of what actually needs doing to the car. you'll get lots of advice here.

Richard's right and I'd recommend joining the Daf Owners' Club as well! LOADS of information and help, and an excellent magazine with great articles. Daf 55 cars have a Renault engine, which helps with parts, and many other parts are available from motor factors. As has already been said, any Daf-specific parts are available from either the club or DAFHobby. Let's see some pictures of your car!

Thank you both, that's really useful, I'm hoping that the bulk of the work will be to the body as I have an excellent shop I use locally. I'm unsure how to attach pictures though.

Hi and congrats on inheriting a Daf! Your car looks ripe for resto and I'm sure will keep you out of trouble over the coming months. Like Richard has said, Dafhobby in the Netherlands is probably the ultimate for all Daf parts. Danny Muijtjens is so efficient with a delivery time within the week upon receipt of payment. He does offer a PayPal payment scheme, however there will be the added 4% surcharge to the customer, otherwise its no problem to do bank transfer (if you have online banking this is easier still with no bank charges!!). I received a parcel only this week of Daf33 goodies from Danny, and I can't praise his service enough. Good luck with the project and be nice to see another Daf saved.

Hi,
There are 2 other sources of DAF Spares in the UK :- DAF Classics[Peterborough] and Essex Dafs[see their pro boards].If you need phone numbers drop me a Personal Message through these pages. Good luck with the Resto,as you rightly say, bodywork looks to be the main area of work.

I find it easiest to add a pic from the computer's files using the "Add Attachment" in Reply, (not quick reply). It seems the simplest thing, and always works.

Fantastic information, thank you all. A few months might be slightly optimistic! The body restoration definitely won't begin until next spring as I have another vehicle being completed by the same shop at the moment, but this will give me the opportunity to strip it down and begin ordering all of the parts.

That's going to be a labour of love! I have done a couple of cars in similar states, never again, but then I am aging!
