I would change the mounting point for that rear number plate holder though John, unless you want a tug from your local law enforcement! ;D

That really is outstanding, John - and makes me feel a little guilty about not having Isabel finished by now. If you can do that in 5 months, in Vermont climate, from basically a pile of rust then I have no excuse in balmy Welsh weather ;D

Looking good John! I'm not surprised that you ran out of welding wire - how much has gone into AERO thus far?

Well, if it's hard then it's worth doing! Have you considered buying shares in the company from whom you buy your welding consumables? ;D ;D

You're not thinking far enough outside the box, John.
Get the shares, do very nicely from them then, just before you finish the project, find "a whole lot more that needs doing". Post lots of photos on here (any random scrap bodyshell should do if it's close-ups). The world will then think you're about to use a whole lot more and share prices will shoot up.
Sell the shares at that point and use the mahoosive windfall to go on a national tour in your newly finished convertible ;D

Only one problem with that Joe! ;D Unless it's a pile of rust that can be swept off the floor and into a bin bag, John will have a go at welding it! ;D

I'll tell her that it's gone to Daffy Heaven where the God of Dafs welcomes them all, they never fall apart and their belts never wear out. That should fool her. Well, maybe 18 years ago it might have

Good stuff John! Will you be trailering her to Manchester to display as a work in progress?

looking good john, i like them badges and the bonnet stays are a good idea.
its a total pain to open the bonnet on a daf in this country. you have to open it on the drivers side then lift it up and skit around the full length of the bonnet doing some strange jig to get to the bonnet stay ;D

Why the bonnets have to sit so low on their stay I don't know! ;D

Erm, sheet metal, sandbags and mallet John! ;D ;D I'm sure you'll make a good job of it. I like the boot (sorry 'trunk') struts. Just as Daf designed bonnet stays too short on the 'A' series so one can keep knocking their noggin on the bonet catch, Daf also designed the boot/trunk stay bar so that one would get their fingers pinched putting it down! You have all bases covered now! ;D ;D I can't say I blame the designer of these quintesentially Daf features, they were probably having a dutch moment at the time which, to be fair, is what I'm doing when I hit my noggin or catch my fingers! ;D

Time to get your hammers out john Pete if you must insist of driving the old A body rather than the thourighly modern B body with child catapulting springs rather than boot stay. I suppose your jig without a forward hinged bonnet is less interesting though

I'm sure it will all end up fine John. When you've made up a rear valance out of sheet metal with your sandbags etc, consider making a few more of them, I'm sure there's plenty more 'A' bodies which could do with new rear valances! ;D ;D

Great to see you cracking on with AERO John! She must really be turning into a labour of love when you see rot like that, I'm sure that will be reflected in the end result.

I really don't like to be critical, John, but that has to be the absolutely worst colour match I've seen in a long, long time ;D Seriously, great to see Aero moving on again

After a little grinding (not that kind Pete ) I applied a first layer of filler. I didn't say a word John! ;D ;D That repair is looking good though.
