Welcome aboard! This is the place to ask loads of questions and (hopefully...) gain some, if not all the answers! The other thing you really ought to do is join the DAF Owners Club (details on the internet!) for which you'll receive an excellent magazine and loads of articles to do with all things Daf
I ought to express a preference here: I LOVE 33s and I should like to see a few pictures of your car.

Hi Andrew, thanks for the welcome I will put some photos up once I pick it up next Sunday, finding a bit of history about the 1972 car I believe it used to be owned by a guy called Andy Biggs and the car was called “Blue Thunder” it seems to have had some cosmetic work and a change of colour whit roof and a lighter shade of blue from a rattle can! I’m hoping to use it as a daily commute bit concerned now I have read quite a bit that the reliability of the model and other peoples experience if I have taken on the wrong classic but time will only tell. Will keep the thread updated as my journey and experience of living with a 33 progresses, still a little worried but think that natural as the last time I drove one was in 1975😀 Papillon.

Sounds interesting........ I should have no worries using a Daf 33 as a regular commute, as my 33 has stood in on my work run of 50 miles from north London to Luton Airport and back on numerous occasions! A little more noisy than modern cars, perhaps, but then again it's air-cooled, so it would be anyway. Yours should be a 12 volt car, so the provision of a half-way decent radio is easy, together with halogen headlights and inertia-reel seatbelts all help make the car more useable without detracting from its essential quirkiness.
For regular use the Daf 33 needs an oil change every and a belt tension check every 3,000 miles, both operations being well within the abilities of a D.I.Y. mechanic, or a classic friendly garage should be able to assist you. Other items to check over are the brakes (drums all round, identical with those of an early Mini) that are easy to check and adjust. The timing needs to be carefully and accurately set, since the centrifugal clutch needs to be disengaged on tick-over. The mixture needs similar careful setting. Belt changing is a tricky procedure, although I've done it several times myself and it can be done on a driveway with the use of ramps. Plug and points gaps are easily set and there's only 2 plugs to do!
Now the best bit: 40+ M.P.G., Nil vehicle excise duty ("road tax") no requirement to M.O.T. (although I should STRONGLY recommend you do have the car tested) "cheap as chips" insurance, no U.L.E.Z. charge if driving inside the North Circular Road in London, it can be parked on a sixpence and (I have heard it rumoured....) that many carparks using A.N.P.R. systems to record the entry and exit of vehicles cannot register cars fitted with old-style black and sliver plates. Of course, I couldn't condone such activities....
