Coming back home on Friday, pulling away from the roundabout accelerating but not too aggressively, followed by loss of power, limped along for a couple of minutes and then all ok,
My first though is junk in the fuel, but i have a fuel filter, air in the system, maybe?
Any suggestions, and second question, has anyone fitted a electric fuel pump to a 55?
Thanks

It suggests some form of fuel blockage or starvation, so I'd have a look at the fuel pipes and perhaps given them a blow through. There's a small gauze filter in the pump, which might be worth an examination, too.
It could also be a breaking down condenser, which can be tested using a multi-meter, but it's often easier to fit a new one. Good luck and report back with more news!

Hi, it's also possible the needle valve in the carb. may have jammed and not allowed the fuel into the carb. bowl and then a little later dropped down allowing fuel to enter. I agree with Andrew but in this situation its best to check every thing. It would be best to take the top off the carb and remove the valve assembly and check the little plastic needle, check it hasn't worn.It would be a good time to ensure the bowl is clean. The thin gasket around the bowl may need replacing,I'm sure Graham will have one in stock.

Mine did that on the way to the club event last summer. All apparently related to the alternator failure, somehow! Then again another of the members wondered about the vacuum unit solenoid.
