Hi all, I was hoping to get to Princethorpe, but I’m having charging issues with my 1973 Daf 66 and couldn’t make it. The car is running brilliantly after a long period off the road, but the alternator is only pushing out 12.65 volts at best which has resulted in a discharged battery after a run. The meter on the dash only goes up to the right hand edge of the yellow zone, where I’m presuming it should be further over in the green zone. I’ve managed to source a brand new old stock Ducellier 7550A alternator, as fitted to mine but on fitting it this evening there is no difference. Frustrating to say the least. The original external regulator - a ducellier 8371A is still in place and I presume that I will have to source a new one. There are electronic ones available, has anyone here fitted one? Am I right in thinking that the regulator could be faulty? Appreciate some pointers in the right direction please. Thanks Grumm
