After the bad weather, a bit of sunshine. "Let's start the DAF up," I thought. So I did. And it did. And we went out. Then belting along at about 50mph, we had an incident... Boom bang a bang, so to speak. It didn't half make a noise - offside drivebelt kind of exploded. I can't complain though - these belts have been on for probably over 20 years. The joys...

Yes, the noise is akin to a shotgun going off under the car! I had one snap on the M1 at 70 MPH on my way to work a few years ago & couldn't immediately pull over. Remember you can drive on one belt to get home and when it comes to changing the belt there's plenty of help available in that well-known magazine entitled "Belting Along"......

More like a machine gun at that speed - bang bang bang bang...
I was only a couple of miles from home, so having tried but being unable to pull any of the visible belt out at the roadside, I gingerly set off, banging. After a few yards, bits of belt must have fallen out because the banging stopped, and I was able to get the car home on one belt.
