After a long period of poor health I am now busy going through my 66, have fitted new front studs and ball joints, but am in need of a left side torsion bar as it has sheared. Am struggling to find one, if anybody can help I would really appreciate it. Many thanks.

I don't know if there following will help, but, as you know, Daf bought their water-cooled engines from Renault: both the 1108 cc engines used in the Daf 55 and 66, together with the 1289cc engines used in the "Marathon" cars were ALL provided by Renault. The reason for this was that Daf weren't a big enough car company to build these bigger engines. They could easily build the 750 & 850cc ones, but the water-cooled ones were a "bridge too far" for the small company. ("Bridge too far"...Arnhem... Holland.... Sorry!)
Why do I mention this? After reading your post I began wondering if Daf bought other help from Renault, on matters other than just engines. Perhaps the legendary "soft" suspension of most French cars, and particularly Renaults and more specifically Renault 4 cars was adapted by Daf and subsequently installed in their cars. Torsion bar suspension is generally "softer" than more conventional designs, although can be "hardened" by increasing the tension on the torsion bars.
It might, just might be worth having a look at some Renault forums (I can recommend "Clementine's Renault 4 Garage" for one) and checking the dimensions of Renault torsion bars, to see if they match Daf ones. As I say, I've no idea if they will match, but it might be worth a try!
