Does anyone know of any performace modifications to these Daf 55s? I wouldn't wanna make it as fast as a Porsche, just a bit more nippy. ;D What do they handle like? Are there any suspension modifications that can be done?

Macplaxton has a good point there! The swing-arm rear suspension of the 55 can "jump around" a bit when you are making a move-on. The 66, of course, remedied this by using the de Dion rear suspension which really did make a difference.
Years ago, I treated my 55 to some Spax dampers - rear ones were adjustable although I never bothered. Not sure whether you could get these now.

I wonder if this de Dion rear suspension is interchangable between a 55 and a 66? I bet the spax adjustables are the same as a Minis. As I just sold a set of these on eBay the other week.

No - and no! There is no similarity between Mini shocks and the 55. And the 66 also had a different Variomatic to the 55, which is all linked into the suspension arrangements. Might be best to go for a 66... By the way, please check your private messages.

Have you tried throwing a Triumph Herald around? Tuck up swinging arm Eh? Same with Daf 33, 44 & 55. Try a 66 and the difference is amazing. I have to watch it with my 44 estate but I once had a new 66 - Wow! My 66 was a Volvo 66 estate - looks the same more or less but has 1300 c.c. motor. I wish I could find another - they always were rare as hens' teeth even when new. Marcus.
