More silly questions...
So, there's those belt-cooling-vent-channels that run under the floor... I've noticed that they appear (on Jejy) to contain a large number of leaves and possibly twigs; indeed it'd not surprise me if some small animals were nesting in there.
Will this crud all get blown out - or do I need to attempt to fish it out somehow?
(And does it matter that my welder has put some bl**dy great dents in them, they're not too deformed).

hi kate. i would certainly clear them out as best as you can. there is no fan pushing air through these channels, just draught as you drive. spiders webs have survived in my channels after a 70mph run, and mine are clear ;D ;D leaves and twigs will not be blown out. a couple of dents shouldn't matter too much as long as air can still flow freely through the channel. it is an easy job. drop the drive belt covers. push out crud with long flexible pipe/bar/hosepipe of your choice. replace covers. done. not long now. paul44

Poot. I had a feeling they'd need cleaning out...
Sadly, until the mystical hub-puller arrives I'm not sure I can get the poor benighted car up on ramps to get the belt covers off. I did manage to get one side onto a ramp, but that was only with somewhat of a run-up...
I shall make sure it's done - especially since it looks like the Minor's also going to be (more) delayed, since the engine turned out to be beyond salvage, so the race for 'first vehicle to be complete, MOT'd and Taxed' looks to still be on (and the winner gets to be my daily car for a while!).
