Not bad is it.... No sorry it is actually really quite bad. Best I've had out of the 44 was 36 to the gallon, on the way to Anglesey. Worst was for the 55 in the lake district, certainly when going up wrynose and hard knott pass.
Cant really believe that I have used over 400 gallonsof liquid gold!

2 position throttle is supposed to be the most economical way to drive a daf. Over the 5000 miles Ive done in Gladys Ive got an average of 38mpg. Which is pretty good worst was going Watford where I got 6mpg fiddling had to be done after that. Best 68mpg on a nice long trip at 50mph which was very impressive .

I average more than that in my 4.3 litre V6 Chevrolet Van, although of course I tend to use that on long motorway journeys where it really is quite impressive.
I remember picking up my dad's 33 years ago from Essex, and being told that it was nearly out of fuel, so I put a tenner in and it ALMOST got me home! Ran out on the motorway about 100 yards from the slip road (where typically a police car turned up and quite rightly told me off for trying to tow it off using an old seat belt as a rope!).
Happy days.

She has now got brakes again (ones that work that is) Seeing that the roads are not slippery as much I thought it would be time to get them fixed
