As I've mentioned on our car threads, the website I created for betty at www.dafmobile.ournet.org.uk has been fairly extensively updated over the past week or so. One of the nice features of the new software is that it can hold copies of the pages in multiple languages, letting users choose what language to read in. As an initial test of this, I've just done a Google translation of the homepage into Dutch. John and Onne have kindly agreed to do some real translations when they get a chance but I wanted to test the feature out before they go to any trouble and will replace whatever I've just posted with something that makes sense when it's available. At least the site software seems to work! As for the actual text, I'd like to apologise now to any Dutch speakers if Google has decided that I'm offering to murder your mother This really did happen when Sian and I tried using an early version of Babelfish to talk to a Lithuanian in an online game we used to play. What we meant to say was something like "can your army kill that town please" . He thanked us for trying but suggested that it was probably safer to stick to his (very poor) English ;D ;D ;D The Teenager will be doing some Welsh pages for us as well so if anyone can provide reliable translations into other languages drop me a PM
