It all started in 1982, when my mother s ankle injury made it difficult for her to drive and she wanted to be able to take over the driving from Dad when needed , so they said can you find us a small automatic car..... well you'll never guess what I found...Yes...a Daf , now we are talking 27 years ago so some things are abit vague .I know it was orange and it was an estate and it was a 2 cyl one I think it may have been a 44 . I know the reg was KLA ....K not sure of the nos. Intersting to see there is acar in the club with the same letters...anyway I live about 100 miles from where they lived at the time , so they said you drive around in it for a couple of months until you can bring it to us .So we did that. Unfortunately my wife at the time was on the way to town on a wet day took a corner too fast and ended up down a dyke backwards .the rear end and rear suspension were quite bent so poor KLAK was written off .Idid find a pic of it the other day so will try and get it on when I can..I then found another Daf for them another estate ...for the dog as well..this time a purple colour and abig Reno engine I think it was a 55 this one This one did make it and mum & dad drove it around for some time until serious rust got the better of it .But I always preferred the 2 cyl aircooled one and that brings us upto date and the 33 I just got from Hull .Now I've had a good look at it some parts of it are quite amazing for its age.. The petrol tank is almost like new and the car is not rusted through anywhere .The worst thing about it is dents but I've had a go at one and its come out quite well ,then I found that the petrol feed pipe was rusted through....strange when the rest of the car is not too rusty at all I've now got a nice new length of copper to replace it ..anyway I've waffled on enough for now but I'll keep you all up to date on progress ..Paul..

Sounds like a good return to Daffing, Paul (what is it with Pauls and Dafs??? ;D ). Rust doesn't seem to be a huge problem on the 33s (at least in structural areas) but not rusted through anywhere is impressive!

The car was in a shed I suppose dry from 1991 til I got it ,,shame was that they still used for storage hence the dents .To change the subject to Triumphs I had one exactlly the same as yours same colour but F reg and I've still got a pic of it..Paul...

Ohh, don't let me side-track your thread onto Triumphs As for dents, they're a lot easier to put right than holes - especially on stuff like the Dafs where you can usually get to both sides of the panel fairly easily! If you haven't already, pick up one of the cheap panel beating sets that are around (from about 15 quid up). They're not brilliantly finished but work surprisingly well for the odd bit of straightening / reshaping. If you're expecting to repaint after than the odd marks they leave from not being polished aren't really a problem.

This is getting very confusing there are now 4 Pauls on this forum 3 of wich own 44s and I believe there are more still in the owners club maybe i should change my name lol. Oh and on the front of dents I find a tack hammmer is very effective as Is a dent pulller I have used both on Gladys and with a little layer of filler and paint you would never know they where there unless that is your a concourse judge and ca spot the effect filler has on paint colour personally I cant Paul
