Seen it! (Surprise surprise!). The price is perhaps optimistic, as the earlier cars were heavy to drive, and some parts are very hard to get, but who knows? Certainly if I had the money lying about I'd LOVE it as you're hardly likely to park next to another. Ever. Lovely looking car in lovely condition. For a car you can show straight away mind, it's not expensive compared with, dare I say it, a ropey Capri or Mk2 Escort. I already have three 99's now, and that's too many!

That certainly is a thing of beautiy, it's lurvely!! You're right though Howard, you would be paying dealer prices which I assume he is, as his trade plate can be seen in the passenger footwell. It will make a lovely car for someone though, a little too clean for me though, I'd be too worried about taking it anywhere. By the way Howard, Matt has found a Saab clock in his parts stores, not sure which model it's from but we'll post it to you Howard as I'm sure you'll make more use of it than we would!!

"Classic" prices are amazing me at the moment. The last 'downturn' we had and things crashed through the floor - but with the rise of Mini prices (mentioned elsewhere) and I'm seeing Allegro prices rise above the £1000 mark regularly now (though 11/1300 prices seem much the same. ) I'm beginning to wonder if there is a recession!

So does anyone want an Allegro then??? I've still got one for sale.... It is fantastic, Stefan. I can't help but go back and look at it time and time again. I even keep going back to my wallet time and time again, but sadly the money doesn't appear. As I'm sure most people will know, it's a lot of money but yet it isn't. If it was £1500 mind, I'd be frantically looking around for stuff to sell! It's in splendid shape for 40 years old, a nice colour (in my opinion!) - and as always, the early cars are the "purest". I wonder if that Saab clock would fit my early 99 which doesn't have one (just a big 'ole in the dash)? I'd be interested to see, and sure, I'd chip in for postage if you want to send it to me - or just put more goodies in the estate car!

I had a 99 like that, but mine was a J reg IIRC. This is the only other chrome bumper model I have ever seen since. Mine was a BRG colour with beige interior. Lovely, lovely car.
Allegro's are also quite cool too. I had a 1977 1100 in Sandglow (baked bean colour). Lovely comfy car.
